Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

Per BN , a club spokesperson says our (best?) players aren't for sale. We have had no interest in any of our players and if we did it would not be entertained. The manager and the chief scout are meeting today to discuss their plans for next month. We are only interested in bringing players in. PP ...

Re: Parky to avoid seeing red and chop down the tricky trees? Notts Forest v BWFC 9/12/2007

Alright leave it out, it is Monday after all!!!! :hang: :D Turning that frown upside-down, we're 15th in the half-time table (intriguingly, Birmingham are 14th) and Burton are bottom - they haven't won a single first half this season, have conceded first in 71% of their games, and in the last 12 ha...

Re: Parky to avoid seeing red and chop down the tricky trees? Notts Forest v BWFC 9/12/2007

I've come to the conclusion it is mostly Alnwick's fault (not that anyone will give a hoot). Those long-ish things that extend from his shoulders give him a head-start in The Race To Meet The Ball At Its Highest Point. He f*ucked that up right good and proper by not even bothering, or doing anythin...

Re: Parky to avoid seeing red and chop down the tricky trees? Notts Forest v BWFC 9/12/2007

Has it been highlighted or does it go without saying just what a calamitous, monumental, abhorrent fecking brain-fart our collective defence had for their second. I'm not sure who is more at fault, the keeper or Little. Anyone got an opinion or are we past caring? My first thought on seeing it was ...

Unchanged XI. Wheater on bench.
Alf, despite being fit, hasn't made the trip. Wilbraham is on the bench. Not sure about the rest..?
Howard, Taylor (A., obviously), Cullen and Arma.

Yeah I went in 1991. Ground just about starting to be Taylorised but the away end was dogshit. Done 4-0 but did it stop me attending the home leg just in case? Did it buggery. Lost 5-2.

It's not because we're seen as a soft touch as well is it? I was thinking - who did we last get top dollar for or when did we last get some mugs to overpay?
Got decent wedge for Anelka thanks to him signing a contract extension (under Sammy Lee?)

when somebody behind me said Madine had never missed a pen, I said has he ever taken one...has he? Classic example of not listening to The Bloke Behind You: Madine missed one for us, at home, two years ago against our next opponents. In fact, before Saturday he’d apparently failed five times in his...

Wasn't Henrik Pedersen know as 'The Carpenter', or some such?
Aye. Pedersen's nickname was player-endowed - he got it back home after turning up to training in dungarees.

I'm trying to remember if I've ever actually seen us beat Barnsley. I'm sure I have, but to me they always feel like a bogey team somehow. Clearest indication yet that insanity is in the eye of the beholder. :D https://www.11v11.com/teams/bolton-wanderers/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Barnsley/ Scre...

Moose is original...there a lot of animal related ones but thats the first Moose I have seen...who was he? Mixu Paatelainen, our mid-90s Finnish import (albeit via Scotland). Big lad, in height and girth. His contemporary colleague Owen Coyle was known as either Flipper (because he said he'd swim t...

Re: Animal Wars... T'rotters v T'ykes ('t'home Sat 2/12/17)

The other night on telly, Martin Keown wondered if Everton's forthcoming game against West Ham was the biggest in the club's history. That was obviously nonsense, considering Everton have won nine league titles, five FA Cups and a European Cup Winners' Cup, and only stayed up on the last day in 1998...

Washing Machine?

Do tell?
"Gary Madine / Goal Machine" (to the Tom Hark tune) was quickly corrupted, during his days of struggle, into "Gary Madine / Washing Machine".

Re: Reading, righting and a rhythm attack.....At Home to Reading ..21 Nov.

Absolutely. It is so annoying - we have one of the worst squads in this league, of course. But squad and manager wise we are settled and haven’t half chucked some points away. If we were a bit more ruthless and could see a game out we would be out of the bottom three. If we were getting tanked like...

Re: Reading, righting and a rhythm attack.....At Home to Reading ..21 Nov.

That’s the awesome ex premiere league Hull City who will surely get promoted, or at least that’s what we said when they battered us in August. The very same, friend. Who we'd be three points above if we hadn't dropped eight points in a month from winning positions. Gah, bother and bugger, etc. But ...

Re: Reading, righting and a rhythm attack.....At Home to Reading ..21 Nov.

He likes his stats, does Parky, so I'd be surprised if he wasn't aware that from the 76th minute onwards we have scored 1 and conceded 11. (Perhaps amazingly, that's not the worst concession rate – Hull have shipped 12 late goals, but they've scored eight.) So that's now scored 1, conceded 13. Hull...
