Re: Rugby league

Wow. I don’t think I’m quite over it yet. It was the most tense sporting event I’ve ever sat through, then the emotion swings in that last 90 seconds were like nothing I’ve ever experienced. The initial despair of giving the penalty away, the joy of hardaker missing it, the building excitement as o...

Quite a few Bolton players got food there, but Jardel was the only one brazen enough to walk into the actual restaurant rather than going through the drive-thru.
That Makakula chap we had on loan would be up top with Donaldson in my team.

Re: Up for the cups in 20/21

Papa Johns have got sponsorship of Super League in exchange for providing pizzas to the players after each match. I suspect the EFL have managed to negotiate a better deal than that!

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

I'd say Pope is shoo-in for me too at the moment, he looks the real deal and I think an engine room of Root, Stokes, Pope is genuinely exciting. There are a lot of moving parts. Not too long ago you'd have said Crawley or Denley or similar had to play because Root was our best batsman and you neede...

Three successful LBW appeals by them. What do these umpires do for a day job?
Guessing like the players they can get out of nick after a long time off. They can’t even head to the nets in the build up. Must take a bit of time to get their eye in for judging LBWs at that pace.

No Virologist, me, but I'm far from convinced that we've reached stage three. Also, I remain fecking appalled by the laissez faire attitude being exhibited by so many in relation to social distancing. By way of 'new normal', by the way, I've just had my first ever GP appointment to be held over Sky...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Just watched the highlights. Saw in the "presentations", Stokes was trying to give MotM award to Sibley. What a star. Sometimes one MotM isn't enough. Sibley, Stokes and Anderson all deserved it. Stokes was too obvious to ignore. But Jimmy hung around with Pope to allow England to get 30 odd crucia...

Worth a mention that Chris Eagles has left Oldham today. Iles has retweeted the story. Anyone reckon he could be lined up for a return?
Please no.
I didn’t even realise he was still playing.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

For number 3 I’d have been tempted to give Ballance another go. I know he’s been ditched twice, but initially he was a good player and scored some important runs. He seemed to lose confidence and get into a habit of overthinking things and his technique went haywire, but he’s back on form for Yorks...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

I’m not denying I’m judging him with a very low bar, but he is an improvement on what we’ve had at 3 for the past few years. A few months ago we’d have killed for someone to just linger around and do what he’s doing now. Is he going to be the bedrock on which a world number 1 side is built? No. Is h...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Having a number 3 who consistently takes his time getting to 30 is a big improvement on what we’ve had the last couple of years. As I said, in almost all other eras he’d be under pressure but for now he’s just about doing the job we need. In this series root has come in before the 25th over once. Fi...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

In the blink of an eye stokes takes the lead past 300 with 90 mins still until lunch. I think a declaration midway through the afternoon is on the cards. England's much vaunted middle order finally has a chance to shine in its ideal scenario - as for once the top order actually performed as they sh...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Perfect day today for England. Polished them off quickly and then batted sensibly to build a commanding lead. Hopefully we accumulate quickly tomorrow - good in a way that Bess was dismissed at the end as Stokes, Pope and Buttler can hopefully just get on with it in the morning. Agree with Worthy, I...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

If you take as a rule that the captain needs to be a player who is guaranteed a spot in the side, it really doesn’t leave you with many options. Realistically there’s only Burns, Root and Stokes who can be sure of a place for the next 12 months. Denly has maybe done enough considering the paucity of...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

It still looks a good track, despite it being a bit slow off the pitch. 231-8 with 6 batsmen - using the term in its widest sense - getting in. Not one past 50. Poor fare. Root should be stripped of the captaincy immediately. I've no idea why we went with Silverwood either. We lack test quality bat...

Aye. Good job we had that wanker Denly!

Form is temporary. He's averaging 30. Shiniest turd, dropped on 0.

Averaging 30 makes him a top player in the current England team!
