Far from World Beaters and certainly lacking the performance we all came to expect. The scoreline was probably expected but the time it took to get off the mark just highlights flaws in our game. The finishing was wide off the mark today and I thought that our attacking prowess was certainly needed ...

Well day 5, even though it featured two of the biggest names in world football managed to be completely overhyped. Brazil and France didn't show a decent performance and the South Korea didn't set the world alight, especially in comparison to the performance they put in while playing in 2002. Hopefu...

South Korea beating Togo was a bit of a surprise after how much they struggled in the first half. Before the game I figured SK to beat them comfortably only to end up showing how poor they are in relation to the 2002 team.

Ecuador seem to have been the biggest surprise so far though.

The Aussies were so scabby in that game. 3 goals in the last 8 minutes including 2 penalty decisions turned down for Japan from none other than Tim Cahill (thug) after going in with a two footed scything lunge.

Well first shock of the World Cup has arrived. Ecuador have beaten Poland 2-0. Poland hitting the post and bar after going 2-0 down. Magic moment was Ulises De La Cruz making a run from before the half way line into the opposition box around the 85 minute mark, if only he'd've scored there it would'...

If I made a statement to Europeans saying that England should be considered as good as Brazil because of the qualities we have in the squad a lot of Europeans would disagree and look at teams around our quality level (for example Argentina) for a fair comparison. All i'm doing is the same with the ...

So you admit to being Eurocentric then? I understand European football, remember when push comes to shove I am an England fan 1st. I openly admit to knowing more about European teams than I do about USA, Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico, Australia, etc. But that doesn't mean I don't understand the rationa...

Chris, My money would be on Italy, Czech's or Spain. Group E: Italy, Ghana, United States, Czech Republic Group H: Spain, Ukraine, Tunisia, Saudia Arabia Spain has a habit of it and group E seems quite unpredictable and i'm sure the US will give Italy or the Czech's a run for their money. Out on GD.

CWE, I think Holland will be one of the biggest surprises this year round. They've been put in one of the toughest groups (they face Argentina, Ivory Coast, Serbia & Montenegro) and have had a fantastic record in the national side for the past year or so. On top of that the Dutch side have a strong ...

Keveh, My judgements a little unclear at this at the moment because my hearts wanting England to win it so much. So whether the current national side is as good as I think it is remains to be seen. Holland, Germany, Brazil or England. I'm thinking one of those 4. But i'd put an outside bet on Hollan...

Your refusal to give any ground to teh US almost proves my point. The world hates us (often with good reason) and from a political and sporting point of view you obviously have no respect for the United States. It's phrases like this that make me discredit America and reaffirm my belief that the US...

Mar. Will England finally end the hurt and lift the cup again? Of course we will. Whether thats this year is a different matter. This years depends on Sven's substitutions and what route we manage to get in the knockout stages. If we avoid Germany we should be fine as there is no real advantage any...

Don't believe in conspiracy theories? You need to read or study more about Putin's meteoric rise to power in Russia and the subsequent levelling of Chechnya and tens of thousands killed for example. You'll find more conspiracy theories than you will be able to handle, and not from cranky bloggers e...

If I remember correctly England lost 3-2 to portugal in 2000 where as teh US beat them 3-2 in 2002. Sol Campbell's disallowed winner on 90 mins suggests that the England game isn't a fair representation of the outcome of that game. Whereas the England B win over the US side doesn't hold any questio...
