Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public

I suspect TD, the larger reason shops are closing is because they're not competitve vs lower cost internet clothes. I mean, some of the internet stores close, because they can't remain competitive so what chance when you have rent, rates, utilities etc?

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I think most of us would have got pretty close on the "released" list. In about January! (JDB's extension terms notwithstanding, he was only the second most talked about three letter acronym beginning with "J" for the most part)

Re: Our formation

That shows in microcosm, Sheehan's disappearance. Every time (in the clip). Their 9 has done a very good job, but Sheehan looking to adapt to it doesn't really happen. Edit: It would also be a brave man, to suggest Santos should have been doing "something brave" with it as Evatt said in post-match,...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Yeah agree mate - that quote applies to pretty much any sport. Lost of non-believers might view cricket at batting and bowling, but it's often won or lost by single moments fielding. I think what some of us slightly more critical posters were saying, was, for example in the case of Reading, for exam...

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public

Here we go, ruin early summer (if it ever gets started) Sod the election bring on the revolution. When we said people were getting hoodwinked and bamboozled, we were told that was a serious underestimation about their intelligence and how could we possible dare to suggest they didn't know what they...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Gotta say mate, (knowing it's a bit of a bugbear for you), I don't think there's a great message around a new pitch for most, no matter how well you spin it. :-) It's nothing to do with the pitch. It's simply that there's a need for a sign of commitment and you don't want it to look like a vote of ...

Re: Tonight's Football

Yeah - that's part of the problem for me. There are still poor overall 2-0 wins in this system. 2 pretty unequal teams, 2 great team moves to score 2 great goals, but fannying about for 70 minutes of the game, isn't a great watch. I haven't seen enough good in the system to make me go "that's what I...

Gotta say mate, (knowing it's a bit of a bugbear for you), I don't think there's a great message around a new pitch for most, no matter how well you spin it. :-) There's also the dimension that fans were tapped to the tune of £4.5m last year, which already caused some consternation, when budget was ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

^^ There's only a few anonymous internet forummers wanting him to stay and the board say nowt (if you're judging on an equitable basis) :-) Ghost suggests they'd have probably spotted some discontent through their media team, but I do agree, to make some sort of statement would be not unadjacent to ...

Re: Our formation

I think when you play for overloads (vs my man will beat your man 1 on 1) there are a number of potential derensive / transition type problems, not all of which get solved by screening. If the team is actively putting 8/9/10 their goal side of us, which we've seen teams do, then it's maybe mitigated...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

I think my favourite aspect of the Gareth Ainsworth suggestion is that one of the complaints about Evatt is he can't adapt his football. In terms of adaptability to different habitats Ian Evatt is a footballing triffid vs the hoofball Orchid that is Gareth Ainsworth. Splice 'um, job sorted :D We've...

Re: Our formation

Yeah brilliant thread worthy. I don’t think this is purely the system. As in 352 vs 433 or whatever. Those are just numbers. It’s the system combined with how we play. Sheffield United under Wilder sort of did the 352 thing best for a while with wide centre halves stepping out and under lapping the...

Our formation

There's a lot of threads where we talk about formation and associated topics (like people we have in it). But I do think it might sit well on it's own thread. I've previously said I don't have a "preferred" - just go with best match for the players you have - and I think Ghost said something similar...

61-39 in the voting now. I'm running short on emails for alt accounts, though.
118 a piece across here and WW - you probably need to sign up for a few alts over there too. :D

Edit: Given the question "what's our media team doing" - we might have our answer!

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I want to win every game, get promoted, play at all times like we mean it and justify my handing over £60 of hard earned to watch it. If it was a marriage, there'd be a pre-nup. It doesn't matter much whether I like them or not.
