The BBC just won it with that brilliantly deadpan Renault ad spoof by Chiles :)

Hansen, Leonardo and O'Neill is the best lineup of pundits too.

Unlucky Aussies. As Big Sam said though, Australia only have themselves to blame. Not creative enough and not positive enough with the Italians down to 10 men. That said, not many teams will score against Italians in defensive mode. I didn't think it was a dive to be honest. It was crap defending an...

Costinha was the name you were looking for.

1-0 England, penalty from Becks. Could this be the year where we make it all the way to the final in the fashion Germany have done in the past?

Italy play good football anyway, negative or otherwise :conf: And yes they have completely ditched their defensive style, in adapting to the different strengths of the players available to them. I'm not sure how anyone can reach the conclusion that England's best chance of success given their person...

Fanz is definitely right here. This is the fundamental theory that underlies everything I wrote about Bolton last season: playing crap football with good players is criminally ineffective and bloody awful to watch. Good football almost always is winning football, because it's the best way to get the...

The Good: Thank god we had the easiest possible route to the quarter-finals. The Bad: Compared with the other great teams in a great tournament, we play awful football. Though if we can grind it out all the way to victory, I won't care. The Ugly: The usual collection of racists and thugs that have b...

drop Frank, bring beckham in from the right and put Lennon out there. That in theory is the best possible solution. But to do that would require belief that we are actually a great team capable of playing great football! I'll settle for a 'water-carrier' like Hargreaves. I think that Lampard is an ...

We can't play 4-5-1 and 3-5-2 at this point is far too radical a change. Drop Fat Frankie.

He picks the team that the papers tell him to. The man is an arse. It's arguably the right team, but we're in a bloody World Cup knockout faze with a lineup and formation we're unfamiliar with. It's laughable. Our flat 4-4-2 is so outdated in the modern international game, T&T almost made a mockery...

We know better than anyone how an equaliser with the last kick of the half can ruin a gameplan. The keeper's blunder finished them off. Having to move Nakata forward and attack Brazil simply resulted in them being starved of posession. An excellent game all the same.
