Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
They might have larger numbers on the day, but they'll all be day trippers, asking folk to sit down and be quiet so they can watch the show. The quality of our support will be better, as long as we don't go behind! :-) Yeah exactly. Our support was as good as any supporters ever have been last week...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
All the conversation does is highly how absolutely essential it is we do go up. But I suppose ‘twas ever thus.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Just the yoof ballooning about how many we have sold vs Oxford. I mean we all knew we’d not be selling this out and Oxford probably would. They have lower attendances sure. But a big catchment area for a day out and it’s far easier and cheaper for them.

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
The nonsense about ticket sales is already doing my nut in. Oxford will sell out because it’s a city with a load of people who like Plymouth will come along for a day trip. You have a large area to draw from. And it’s about an hour to get there using public transport. And costs a fraction of what it...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Aye. It ace if we win, shite if we don’t. I Don’t look back on the Watford one with much positivity! Watford scarred me for life. That group of players was full of ability but we couldn’t defend well enough and we also had a habit of inexplicably not turning up. Both happened at Wembley against wha...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I’m all for better wing backs but they don’t stop the goals we are conceding. The back three are making mistakes. Every single game. Stopping that would stop the goals to an extent but they also at times need a proper midfield screen. That has been absent and better sides have exploit it. Sheehan is...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
If we go up and Jones Santos Toal are our starting Centrebacks, we will come right back down. One out of the 3 plus 2 better quality CBs as starters are needed for the Championship. Toal, Santos and Johnston would be the starters. I think that’s probably a Championship quality group. Honestly I thi...

Sir James of Burnley has announced his last test....v West Indies in a decision, I suspect Stokesy and McCullum have helped him with. To be honest, I might have tried to stick with him until he'd managed to depose the final Aussie, but it's been taking quite a while. What a player he's been for Eng...

Much of this will simply depend on the league we are in.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2024 6:53 pmHmm, Worthy wants someone a bit more solid. I prefer Randall defensively, suspect Bradley might cost a few quid, but Ogbeta for me doesn't bother nearly enough defensively..

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Given we very clearly have conceded too many goals this season I’d say next season whatever happens that is where we need to fix. Midfield in terms of its ability to stop teams and the back three in terms of its defensive concentration and general ability to keep the ball out. If we want to be promo...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
A week away and I’ve developed a very bad gut feel for this one. Feels very much like that Watford game to me. Similarish scenario. Since we beat them here Oxford have been better than we have. I think honestly they have that momentum and we need to be very careful. They are on one of those end of s...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
IF we go up fwiw I think we need a centre back with pace and power for one of the flanks. Ideally one who could also cover the santos role. A RWB with more quality than JDC. A LWB who can defend better than Williams - Randell still useful but will be games we need more solidity. A proper monster cen...

Our lads out of contract in summer: Nat Ogbeta Zac Ashworth Declan John Jon Dadi Bodvarsson Cameron Jerome interestingly JDB's new contract had a year extension triggerable by appearances, although it was never made clear how many. He made 46 appearances in all comps (18 starts), 36 in the league (...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
In feeling there are some parallels to 1999. That year we finished 6th and Watford finished one point above us in 5th. Somehow we both our play off rivals who finished many points ahead of us and ended up in the final. Although iirc Watford had already beaten us twice that season and finished a poin...

Let the ticketing chaos commence! Sorted mine in less than 15 minutes from actually getting onto the system. No issues. Never really have had any issues with the online ticketing system. Interesting to see that there appear to be plenty who are struggling with it... There is definitely room for imp...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Not saying that we will lose I merely want us to show Oxford the respect we should afford them. They have the ‘finished 6th’ momentum and the way they nullified Peterborough was the way some teams have had success against us this season. On the plus side I think if we play at our best and take our c...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
There's a big step between confident and complacent. I doubt I'd have much to compare between our recent performances and theirs, but we should absolutely view them as the team that's got every bit as far as us and knock outs don't give chances to come back next game (at this point). I want us to b...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs TBC. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Darren Ferguson showing his usual horrendous lack of class. Battered them, they didnt deserve to go through, Oxford just got lucky. It’s not what I watched Darren. You had a lot of the ball. Didn’t do much with it. It's about scoring goals Darren. Nice football gets no cigars. Deserve has nothing t...
