Re: Our formation

Yeah it is opinions mate, totally respect the majority I see on here. I would say as the spare centre half in a three he has a lower workload than the others…but yeah he’s being asked to be a b-tech baresi and spray it about…but with league one legs and brain.

Re: Our formation

He’s a good one when he’s on form. He’s pretty inconsistent…just like the team he captains. Barnsley over two legs, first leg he was brilliant, imperious. Second he was bullied and an absolute mess. For me we need a consistent 8/10 man at centre half and we need a leader - he’s the one to replace.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Are there any centre halves other than our fearless leader who can’t play in a two? It seems such a limiting trait!

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

The problem is not that our press is more ineffective than Oxfords' - as Ghost says over the season, it's not - our Opta PPDA still has us as top, Oxford 4th bottom. But that's where the lies, damned lies and statistics come into play. In a one-off game, or even across the play-off, they might have...

On another topic du jour - I would not be confident of top two if our RWB options are Cogz, Matheson, Jones. If we go back four, maybe (although we’d need a tall LB as none of those are grrrrrreat in the air).

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

Who is saleable then? Can we cash in on Santos, Sheehan, Thomason, or Charles to plug the gaps we need in mentality? I’m with Insane at the moment, if that’s the squad for next season it’s not getting top 6, never mind top 2. Too many opposition managers have worked out how to play against us.

I am guessing that’s from Saturday post match - I don’t think he’s popped up and done an interview since?

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

TBF, I think Ainsworth has fewer votes in favour than keeping Evatt - he's got one with maybe a second pick after Duff from Dibs...Move on. The "get ridders" sometimes don't help themselves much... :-) Both Duff and ainsworth have managed at a higher level than Evatt looks able to. Not particularly...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I was stay on Saturday night and now I’m go…
I think it’s gonna get toxic when we lose 3 on the bounce to Wigan Blackpool and Stockport next season - I’d rather we had a new manager now than October.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I think the shopping list will be:
Two leaders - one centre half, one centre mid.
Charles replacement (unless we think that’s Victor, but we’ll still need another forward at least).
Then your onto wing backs… unless we look at Iredale left (helps with leadership as well) back. And a new formation.

More "stay" voters than "go" now. Only by the famous 52-48% split, but y'know.
That might be the lurking fans of other teams.

We’ve been a laughing stock at Wembley twice now. Not sure which performance was worse… maybe Saturday is still too raw.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

I got a bit emosh reading that. Not for me. I think he was decent, probably in my top 3 players this season and I enjoyed watching him. But he’s just another bloke who’s picked up a very good wage in a side that I’ll remember as a failure. Really do think Dion Charles will be off this summer as wel...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Depends when Evatt goes. He’ll either do the decent thing and step down now or he’ll go when the board has no choice - run of results against Rotherham, Wigan and Blackpool probably.

4 new wingbacks seems a stretch when Randell has mostly done well and Cogley was in the Team of the Year.

I'm sick of talking about (the now promoted) Kane Wilson. Get me two wingbacks of that level, please, so I can shut up about it.
😀

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

I think if you’re keeping the system we have to upgrade the wingbacks. Cooley was on the whole excellent this season but he isn’t Connor Bradley. We won’t get Connor Bradley but perhaps loaning one from above might be the way to go there. Randell I think is as good a signing as you get at this level...
