Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

If the style of play has to change, so be it. We couldn't hang on to Madine anyway if reports are correct. Not as easy as that.. It's not just a 'style of play'.. It's a culture that has been ingrained into this club since 1999. We've tried changing it and suffered as a result. A direct, aggressive...

...right. Ok, I feel better already. The world's axis has not tipped.
Hopefully the £74 billion quid we've squirreled away for a rainy day will enable us to plan more than two weeks in advance...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

I do think that the pessimism is a little overdone. It all comes down to attitude, both of outgoing and incoming players. It wouldn't be a surprise to me if Madine quickly becomes a dud for Cardiff after his purple patch just as he was for us earlier in the season. That and the need to fit into a di...

Re: What Car - suggestions please

Depends how competent at off-road, snow and ice you will really need. Some of the ones on your list are a bit too 'soft-road' to deal with harsh conditions. I bought a used Discovery Sport for 'er indoors late last year and it can cope with anything she/we can throw at it and it's very well kitted o...

Yes, you can call me a dreamer but I'm not the only one - to paraphrase some scouse git - but I have just had a revelation during the night. We are not going to lose a single game in the second half of the season and we shall do a Leicester City and get promoted to glory. It starts today. I was drin...

Who was 'thrupenny bit head'? Can't remember the name but he was a useless header of the ball.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

I love beer snobbery. "My real highly toxic poison is better than your fizzy highly toxic poison." Is it beer snobbery if you prefer a pub which offers great conversation, no little oiks and no bloody all day Sky or deafening music? If so, I'm a snob and proud of it. Stick to the advice of the proh...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

Can I have three Dark Fruits and a lager and top please? No. Fxck off, grow up and come back in here when you can order beer and know the difference between an ale, a stout and an IPA. It's a pub not a fxckin kindergarten. (Obviously the conversation didn't quite go like that. It should have done.)...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

I know Muslims who don't recognise that choice. They don't feel the need to choose. You can say "Islam demands it" but Christianity "demands" you don't handle pig skin. Is Tango not a Christian because he likes a bacon sandwich (toasty loaf)? Of course not. I agree with the long lost leopard. The t...

Re: Lost Opportunities

Alonso was absolute shite for all but the last six months of his time here. From memory we wanted to keep him at that point (he certainly wasn't worth it before then, and was a real Madrid signing on premier league wages in the championship) but he got a better offer. I think both him and Mooy (who...

Re: Lost Opportunities

As much as I'd like to blame Coyle for Alonso, it's one of those things. He was awful here for most of his time. Which is probably because defensively in a struggling team he wasn't the right sort of player to have. Mooy, left us for St Mirren. And the bummed around a bit at relatively weak levels ...

It just isn't true that they were discarded. We offered both of them new contracts but they turned them down.

Is that so? Having been consistently been left out of the inner circle prior to that is it any wonder they wished to leave.

Re: Lost Opportunities

Every single club in professional football has a 'one that got away' or two. Nothing to see here. I would say we have had more than our fair share:- Recently Danny Ward springs to mind. Who was that guy who went to Arsenal? If we signed someone like Marcos Alonso on sustainable terms it would have ...

Lost Opportunities

Two of our old boys scored in the Premiership this weekend - Marcos Alonso and Aaron Mooy. Both discarded by useless managers who couldn't find their own arse without the aid of Ordnance Survey maps? Marcos Alonso - a man among boys in the Freedman team. Freedman wouldn't play him and didn't try to ...
