Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public
The dying breaths of a pointless government. Going to be a massacre. Good, they deserve to be wiped out.

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public
Which is a long about way of saying f*ck this shower of c*nuts. On their arse well overdue. Finally we can get the competent grown ups in. Politics is complicated and lots of the big problems have macro, global causes blah blah but having the ones who do their launch inside when it's raining is a fe...

Re: 2024, hoodwink and bamboozle the public
My already militant anti-landlordism has taken a turn this week. Last summer post Liz Truss shit show I had to move house because the landlord wanted to put the rent up by 25%. Had to move out of central London and still pay more than I was. Shit, but that's modern Britain. When making an offer for ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
^^ There's only a few anonymous internet forummers wanting him to stay and the board say nowt (if you're judging on an equitable basis) :-) Ghost suggests they'd have probably spotted some discontent through their media team, but I do agree, to make some sort of statement would be not unadjacent to...

Re: Tonight's Football
That's not the point I'm making. I don't mean in whole games, that we're either 10/10 or awful. I mean for decent chunks of time within games. Where it falls apart and we are horrible. Often it's on 60 mins plus when the strikers are swapped and the wing backs shagged. Occasionally it's been from th...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Hope the wife is on the mend Sonic. Couple of things. The foot on the ball thing is definitely coached. It's all the rage now. Idea is meant to be you draw out the press and can play round. Oxford didn't bite, and we were snookered. But I don't think that's coming from Rico. I'd also be very astonis...

Re: Our formation
I think you'd fix part of that with Ghost's 10 and two deeper suggestion. What DSB might say was inverting the triangle. A big problem was the number of times where they get out and suddenly Sheehan is the only midfielder able to affect play. That would be a big ask for anyone, and it certainly isn'...

We played plenty of brilliant football under Sam until the last couple of seasons. I'd quite happily watch Jay Jay and Djorkaeff whatever shape you play!

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I know the name but not sure I've seen him play much other than against us. For those in the know (and conscious of my promise on the other thread) do you reckon he could centre half and midfield in a 433 (not at the same time...)? Yes, though in my view he suits a back three better. He was a very ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Fingers crossed but given he's got 12 months left (I think?) we need him to sign a new deal. That would be a nice boost though.

Re: Our formation
Cheers worthy, I'll *try* not to derail every other thread, but no promises. The "modern" description of City was slightly tongue in cheek. It's both obviously true, but also I think interesting in how things come around. On the ball on Sunday City essentially had a front 5 of Silva, De Bruyne, Haal...

Re: Tonight's Football
What's Granit Xhaka but a balkan, better disciplined George Thomason...? It's essentially what Evatt's system should look like with a #10 in it, rather than two #8s, and it's why I felt we should be moving that way (or have the option to) in the summer. The pressing shape of the 3 forwards doesn't ...

See above, the problem is the 2, not the 5.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 10:17 pmAnyone who watches that final and still claims sides that play 3-at-the-back can't press needs to have a word with themselves.

Re: Tonight's Football
Ha! My issue isn't a back five but a front two. If Xabi wants to come here and play 343 I can live with it. Could get a tune out of Wes too. Alonso's 3-4-3 would be far less of an issue for our forwards. Charles would get the support he needs. Collins and CMG would suit the hybrid #10 roles. Just h...

Re: Tonight's Football
It has a big Saturday feel to it, albeit at a much higher standard. Atalanta with a will executed plan, Leverkusen short on ideas.
V rogue to leave Bonniface and Schick on the bench. Safe to say that hasn't worked!
The worse Frimpong brother looks wasted too.

Re: Your England XI
He's left himself no choice, really. He's refused to call up and test left backs - so he has nothing to work with. Poor planning. Southgate's approach to football is much more conservative than almost all elite coaches, so the English players other managers might use on the left aren't players he w...
