Re: PoTY/PoTS 2020/21

Santos for me. For all the reasons mentioned above. Though to be fair you could make a case for pretty much any of the starting 11 on Saturday. Quite apart from anything else, though, Santos has given us another legendary forum phrase - to go alongside "aquaplane" and "Sampions Lig", among others - ...

Re: Crawl over the finish line (please!) sat 8/5 @3pm on the Sky box

Bunch of bottlers, this lot. No character. Weak as piss. Load of shite.

Get the f*ck in! This is a magnificent performance.

Re: The future is hidden from all men and great events hang on small chances: Exeter (H) Sat 1/5/21 @ 3pm

Tommy, I've not said that Evatt should go but I do think these players are mentally weak & have bottled it. We have players who are apparently so much better on paper than our opponents and have played at a higher level i.e. John, Williams, Santos, Lee, Sarce, Doyle etc. but they didn't show that t...

Re: Remaining fixtures

Interested to see what happens with Politic. Evatt has seemingly jettisoned Darcy (who IMHO was probably our best player last season at least for a period) but promoted Thomasson who has done well albeit probably still not physically on par. When I look at how our widemen play in this 4-2-3-1 or wh...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

Strange. I thought that, despite today's setback, we were still one of the form sides in the league, still third in the table, and contrary to being bottlers actually had a damn good record over the year for coming from behind.

Must be thinking of a different side.

Great stuff. More than a game clear of 4th, two points off the top with five games to go.

Re: Scrambled Easter eggs. V Colchester at the Unibol, Friday 1-o'clock

Wanderers fail to win, BWFC_I rejoices that his predictions of doom have finally come true and shows it by commenting so much more frequently than when we win. More important to be right than win, eh? Not quite at the races today, but we weren't a million miles away. Cols came for a point and got it...

Re: Meat Dodgers v Fee Doidgers - FGR away, Sat 27/3 live on the tele @ 12pm

Yeah a massive win. The gameplan worked in the sense we scored and if we are honest they rarely looked like doing. But the trouble with this is on another day, you get unstuck. I would like to see us play a little more assertively even if it’s clear they are a good side. But 3 more points. Can’t go...

Re: Will it be Balsall from Walsall? Sat 20/3/22 (h) 15:00

69% v 31% possession 13 shots v 6 4 on target v 2 I'd say 2-1 sounds a perfectly fair reflection it would, to somebody who didn't watch the game. However, you saw the game ;) I did - and as a football journalist rather than a concerned fan, I'd say Walsall didn't look as good as Bolton. Organised, ...

Re: 10 years to the day since...

And the rest on Marvellous Marvin. Who played about 10 mins at Stoke. Despite it all we'd still have stayed up if he'd not been so stubborn and brought Jaaskelainen back in for a clearly not ready Bogdan. That goes for so many things during the final months of Coyle's tenure. Persisting with Bogdan...

Re: 10 years to the day since...

Tremendous day out, tremendous game. Only decided at 9pm the night before to go - cue early morning rush to the train to make sure I was there in plenty of time to get a ticket on the door. Everybody there that day knew, with absolute certainty, that our name was on the cup that year. We were going ...

Re: Will the wheel drop off? Barrow (h) 27/02/21 15:00

It’s a really interesting discussion, this – and, as Jim McDonuts says, nicer to have it as a “first-class problem” than the existential angst of earlier in the season. When many here were ready to defenestrate Evatt I insisted there was more to come, but I’m not here to crow – and nor am I complet...

Re: Will the wheel drop off? Barrow (h) 27/02/21 15:00

Barrow came set up for a point, and dared us to break them down. Their strategy nearly worked, too - we don't have anyone capable of unlocking a rigid defence like that on a regular basis (does anyone in this league?) We stayed patient and waited for a break, a mistake, anything. 1-0 win with 70% po...

Re: Returning to the ground

There are a lot of "ifs" in play here. But if that timescale stands, and if we go the distance and get into the playoffs - tickets damn well better be offered to ST holders first and foremost. For both the semis and the final.

That is a stunning signing. Could well be the best player in the league. Wow.

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?

What exactly did Crawford do last season to be called a "shining light"? One worldie free kick. Other than that? He was by no means the worst of the shite we had last season, but nor has he ever stood out to me as the deity some paint him to be. Similar Darcy. Looked good for a kid breaking through,...
