Re: The athletics/running thread

Went back to Pilates yesterday. Determined from next week I’m going to be more on it exercise wise. Had a horrendous run last week, possibly my worst ever, though in my defence I had a cold and it was stupid of me to go out. Colds gone now near enough and so I’m back out tomorrow morning for the fir...

The only sound the hills are alive with during my parkruns is of my arse.

And there are a lot of hills at Clair Park. I’m not sure the pollution levels have dropped back down in Mid Sussex since your epic wind powered victory 💨

It’s a bit tricky to run in.
Careful. Sounds like a nasty trip hazard! 😬

You’d know! 🤕

I'm picturing you galloping musically through the hills of Sussex like Julie Andrews.

If you’d been nearer the back at Clair park run you’d have been treated to the distant warblings of “the hills are alive...” Serves you right for being so fast and missing out on that musical feast.

Re: The athletics/running thread

You motivated me Bruce. Now the kids are back at school this week I’ve no good excuse either so dusted off my running shorts that have been languishing in a drawer for the last month, grabbed my trainers and the dog and set off for a very slow, unfit, humid few miles. Hated every minute of it! Befo...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Parkrun UK to start up again by the end of next month! Back to those hill sessions, people. ;) Back?! My last hills session was about 3 years ago. Kids are back at school now. In theory I have time to run. Just need to work on my motivation. I hear from BP you’ve been getting out loads throu...

Re: Tonight's Football

Well, I didn’t think at the start of this week Arsenal would beat Liverpool and City but cup final here we come. No doubt we will revert to the normal error prone Arsenal in our last league games but happy days for now. Hope Arteta gets the money he needs in the summer. I’m feeling quite excited abo...

Plodded round 4 miles tonight. Decided if I’m going to be slow then I’ll try and up the mileage slowly instead.
Try ultra running. Them buggers walk most of it!
Or a triathlon where I can just cheat and get on my bike when I get knackered?

Re: Tonight's Football

Meh. We only got beaten 3-0 by Man City... Therefore Arsenal better then Liverpool?! 🤔 😉 By that logic, Southampton must be better than Arsenal. 😉 Only, Arsenal never have their keeper get lobbed from the halfway line. Oh, hang on.... :D Thanks for reminding me of the most traumatic evening of my t...

Re: Tonight's Football

I see Jose's Spurs career is following the same trajectory as his Man Utd one. Bitterness and recrimination after every defeat by a more motivated, well drilled and better coached side. I'll be surprised if he's still there by xmas Such a shame  We have them shortly though, sure he will pull o...

Re: Pies in administration

Just goes to show how quickly things can change for clubs. I’ve still not forgiven them for Jason Roberts goal in extra time of extra time in the second leg of the semi final of the league cup that knocked us out on away goals in 2006. Arsenal tube station was shut after too. I wouldn’t wish ...

Good stuff. I puffed round a very slow 3 miles last night. At my least fittest in a good while I think!

Kids driving me up the wall this morning. Mr GG has taken them all out on a dog walk. If he accidentally loses one or two I won’t be asking questions...

So over this lockdown. I love them dearly but they should all be back at school now.

Re: The athletics/running thread

Yeah it's ridiculous. Something pinged in my leg last time it was this hot about 4 weeks ago and still isn't fixed. Going stir crazy again. I really fancy a swim and Boris has just said no to pools for ages yet! Still, saving a shed load with the kids swimming lessons and swim club fees (if ...

Re: The athletics/running thread

I staggered out for a slow 3 miler yesterday with a friend. I hate running in this weather! Don’t understand why certain people won’t run in the rain. :conf: I think I prefer it. Too hot down south for anymore exercise this week! ☀️ Don’t you bloody start! :Jedi: I mentioned no names. If you’ve got...
