Re: Are we an "unprofessional" professional football club?
Ps, that last post should have been in the past tense for attracting big names, I keep forgetting we're now in the championship...

Re: Are we an "unprofessional" professional football club?
Allardyce was a great manager for us, but he was lucky with the fact that it was a different market back then. Players like Okocha and Djorkaeff aren't available, because they go abroad on MASSIVE contracts. Do you think we were paying them bog standard wages when they were here? Same goes for half...

Re: Are we an "unprofessional" professional football club?
Young players who can stay with us for a couple of seasons and then sold on I'm unconvinced about the "buying young players to develop and then flog" strategy. Best case scenario - we sign a promising young player on a 4 year deal, he proves himself over a couple of seasons, then we're able to sell...

Re: Are we an "unprofessional" professional football club?
He wanted 30M quid to spend according to PG. I can only assume without balancing any of it out by selling his better players. So a) we never and have never had that kind of money to spend. And b) given what we know now thank god we didn't give it him or we'd probably not have a club to watch full s...

Re: Are we an "unprofessional" professional football club?
Where has it come from that Sam wanted to double/treble ticket prices? Never heard that before. When Lee was appointed I emailed Gartside expressing concern about the situation with the number of players we had linked with moves and an inexperienced manager. He rang me back within 5 minutes and tal...

Re: Contract expiry
So you want to discourage a player from taking shots? Seems a bit weird, what do you want to us to do try and pass it into the net? Didn't work for Arsenal, they haven't won anything for years If they're crap at shooting and continually waste good attacking positions with speculative efforts that e...

Re: Contract expiry
I like Eagles except for his pissing free-kicks – into the wall every FECKING TIME. I nearly threw my computer out of the window after his second such effort against Stoke. Tw*t. Totally agree with that, although really can't get the Eagles hate. I think someone pointed out he's scored same amount ...

Re: Contract expiry
Surprised Owen Coyle hasn't turned round and told him off for his hopeful shots against the keeper. Can only remember the one against Stoke as one he's scored from outside the box. All he seems to be doing when doing long shots is turning over possession. We keep possession, they don't score. Exact...

Re: Worst signing by Allardyce, Lee, Megson or Coyle?
Everyone seems to be enjoying this topic - much more than my transfer rumours thread which to be fair was conceptually ahead of it's time (which luddites like TKIZ couldn't seem to grasp...) SERIOUS POINT: Reading through this thread with the sheer amount of Allardyce cock-ups it really does make y...

Re: Contract expiry
Im a closet eagles fan as well. He shoots too much. But at least he shoots! *cogh*Ngog*cough* Eagles does my head in. Undoubtedly got some skills, and his work rate seems to have improved considerably. But sooooo many shots, mostly piddley pea rollers straight to the keeper. Or free kicks into the ...

Re: Contract expiry
If Jussi Knight and Petrov are included, that makes a squad of 25. Which prompts 3 thoughts .. We don't neeed to bring many more in .. If we have got rid of 15, what on earth did we need them all for? .. At Premier League wages, no wonder we are in debt A squad of 40, and we still couldn't put out ...

Re: Are we an "unprofessional" professional football club?
Would have big Sam back in a flash. The complete antithesis of Coyle, and exactly what is needed to rectify the chronic issues on the pitch. Get them fit, get them motivated, get them organised, get the crowd believing anything is possible, get the Reebok into a fortress again. Never gonna happen w...

Re: Contract expiry
Wow. Bearing in mind who's left and who's out of contract next summer (Holden / CYL), it looks absolutely essential we bounce back at the first attempt.
Also, 4 year contract for Pratley (free) v 3 years for Ngog (£4m) v 2.5 years for Sordell (£2m)???

Re: reo coker
I wish him well in the future, and hope we get an even better replacement. For all his effort and commitment (which put others in the team to shame), ultimately he couldn't tackle or motor as well as Muamba, or run/tackle/pass/shoot/assist as well as Holden. That said, if we had cloned him and put t...
