Re: A no win affair. Versus Brentford. Home Sat 27th April. 3-0'clock k

Good news for those demanding squad rejuvenation: looks like Beevers and Williams are out for the last two. With Wheater whacked and Hobbs hobbled, Harry Brockbank might get shifted to the middle. With Olkowski notably absent of late, could Little get a game? With Williams our, could it mean game t...

Re: Turn right at t-Bird i-th hand pub Hindley. Wigan away, Sat 16th,3-0'clock

Looking at how to get there. Perusal of the official website on the Tickets tab then the "Official Travel Club" option, there's a suggestion of buses going to Wigan tomorrow at 12.45. (This seems to be in addition to the usual away travel coaches). Looks like they do it for the local games, but can'...

In no particular order:- - Thought Josh Magennis looked more on his game than he has done for a while. - As has been said elsewhere, there were some classy touches from Luca Connell. - I love him and I know he can be brilliant and I know he only had 25 minutes or so, but I'm struggling to see what S...

Re: Love thy Neighbour...Bolton V Blackburn Sat 6th Oct.17-30

Sure I'm repeating what others have said, but . . . Thought we moved the ball around pretty well in patches, but lacked a bit of guile and incisiveness in the final third. Or to put it another way - Sameobi wasn't playing. Given our Ameobiless state at the moment, a bit of Route One might not go ami...

Do we know who scored yet?
Stadium announcer said Sameobi (as well as shouting "Handball" when his microphone was switched on towards the end!).
BBC says Buckley.
Club website says Magennis.
I'm mainly bothered what Billy Hill's view is on it.

Oli McBurnie, what's the score? (and furthermore, would you mind coming on loan to us next season, upon which all would be forgiven?) Oli McBurnie's dad sometimes works out of our office, and I had a quick chat with him the other day. I got the impression that he (Oli - not his dad) would be in no ...

Noticeable that the goal came on the floor through the middle, albeit it was a one man counter-attack rather than a carefully crafted team move.

In no particular order:- Ameobi - Legend. Love him and all that. But surprisingly crap in the air. Didn't win a lot of the headers that he looked like he should have done. What an awesome goal though. Zach - Legend. Love him and all that. But that was a bad miss. Glad it didn't matter because that w...

Re: General Chit Chat

Questions for you London types. I'm having to fly into Heathrow this weekend and need to do a few underground trips on my way through. Does an Oystercard ever lapse or expire? I've found one in the depths of my drawers but I've not used it for years. Will it still work? Also, I'll be travelling with...

Lazily C+P'd from a work email, so apologies if some already posted in the previous 180 odd pages. A friend of mine has recently formed an Elbow tribute band. They've named themselves Ars* and I honestly can't tell the difference. Me to Dr: I’ve hurt my pen!s in a surfing accident. Dr: Did you fall ...

Re: General Chit Chat

I'm abroad at the moment, but I've got to start looking at jobs back home for when I return in the summer. Ideally, I'll find something nearer to home, but at present, there are two more or less identical opportunities; one in Liverpool (central) and one in Leeds (about 2 miles out of the centre). H...

Anyone else think this 'coup' in Turkey just doesn't seem right? We've been living in Istanbul for just over a year now. Last Friday night (the "coup" night) was an interesting one; we can see the bridge in question from our window, so the gunfire and fighter jets were fairly adjacent. While that o...

Re: Brexit or Britin

The trolley "pound" isn't designed to stop you stealing the trolley it is merely incentive to return your trolley to a trolley bay rather than just dumping it any old place in the car park that you feel like. It's a bit of both. Trollies cost a surprising amount to manufacture, and supermarkets los...

Re: Stelios Giannakopoulos - your memories

^^ That was possibly the most boring and certainly one of the coldest games I can recall. I'd just nipped down the steps on the way out when the bugger scored. I remember the match well, but not for the scintillating football on offer. The heavily pregnant missus was in hospital at the time (fortun...

Re: Lennon out!

I wonder if the Chairman-elect is considering himself as a managerial candidate. Is there owt to stop someone being Chairman and Manager? I doubt he'd be any good; indeed, his record sounds Lennonesque:- "Holdsworth was appointed manager at Conference South side Chelmsford City in May 2013.[85] Howe...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Unless you're planning on running an ultra I see no benefit in backpacks. All marathons and half-marathons (and some 5k and 10k for the soft arses) have water stations. Nutrition can be an issue but if you train with gels or other such carb boosting foodstuffs you should carry as little as possible...

That's the badger.
And in fact, I think he's Slovak rather than Czech.
