Re: Opening day
Is it just me or do the fixtures all look harder this year than last year? Not sure if it's pessimism induced by the limp end of season or the uninspiring/worrying nature of our transfer business to date or just that the quality in the division somehow looks higher but I'm not feeling the normal clo...

Re: At Home to Norwich...
Bogdan, Vela, Dervite, Ream, Moxey, Bannan, Walker, Feeney, Gudjohnsen, Heskey, Le Fondre Is that: Moxey in a back three: ---Dervite-Ream-Moxey--- Feeney-Vela-Bannan-Walker ----------Eidur---------- --------Emile-ALF-------- Or reversion to a back four (Vela at RB) and a powder-puff midfield? Vela-...

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
It must be a worry for cravies as much as anyone . He's a good striker but at the current rate seems only available for a third of a season . It may mean he will accept a cut price deal and be a useful extra for us next season or it may mean we just have to let him go. Clubs aren't going to be offer...

Re: Treatment table
It is a real shame but seriously undermines any idea of him staying next season . Can't really keep a striker who is out as much as he's available especially if Heskey stays . Reckon it's either or with those two and a less injury prone target man will be priority this summer .

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
But which three ? Course there may be more who are being given time to assess there real options . My money would be on eidur Heskey and pratley being the three with solid offers right now though Heskey may not have decided if he wants another year yet .

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
Of those listed pratley is the only real definite for me . Of the keepers if bogdan is affordable I'd hope he stays , eidur and Heskey well worth keeping at the right price . I just don't see le fondre staying, if he did it would be at the expense of clough and really clough needs to develop as a po...

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
I'm guessing you're thinking of ricketts rather than Elliot there . Have decent lower league strikers aren't cheap though . I think Bradford wanted more than 1mil for that tall lad and he looked pretty ordinary in the fa cup game . Wonder if there's any old fashioned English strikers available on a ...

Re: Player of the Season?
Feeney for me The only one who played for both managers. He'd be my pick too on what I've seen as much for attitude as anything . He's had some great games in our better performances and dug in on the poorer ones . Like the fact he doesn't flounce and just gets on with it whatever he's asked to do ...

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
They're the ones , thanks dsb . Certainly had lots of opportunities to learn about character since Xmas . Might imply that cravies will be on his way. He will almost certainly be looking for a target man this summer . Heskey and eidur , you'd imagine might stay as a back up if the terms are ok . Jus...

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Sounds like Luke woodland had a good game for Oldham this week . Hopefully they are keeping a close eye on how he's getting on given his contract is up . Don't know how to post links on a phone but there are a couple of interesting pieces in the Ben about lennon's thoughts on squad building . They'r...

We signed woolery a year ago for ten grand so you'd expect his contract to be two years at least.

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
That's a decent move for hall . Hope he gets regular games there . This Liverpool lad , well the only point is if we may be able to keep him.not short of midfield options now but it is funny seeing so many in the squad after Lennon came in and moaned about having too many when he arrived .

Re: Cardiff away
They've just leant ken jones to Bournemouth which is a bonus in terms of this game though should there be much riding on our final game of the season we may be in for a battering . Seems to be some serious financial rebalancing going on after tossing money at a sinking ship in the prem .

Re: Is this a Blackpool Trout which I see before me? Bpl (A)
Home win , Blackpool relegated , time to get next season under way . Failure to beat Blackpool at home would put a serious dent in any chance of a half positive end to the season . Games get pretty tough after this one .

Re: Cardiff away
I think you're right , Cardiff are starting to click now though they've been rubbish at home most of the season . I'm wondering how I've gone most of the season without spotting the best bet for bit winning away is right under my nose . Must be the deluded optimism of the football fan . Draw at Blac...

Re: Wigan, away.
I'm pretty sure I read he was out of contract in the summer and either hoping for a new one or available with tribunal set compo so was hoping he'd be a possible signing this summer . Best to make him feel at home without giving him too much chance to impress if that's the case

Re: Wigan, away.
Agree with pt and cee bee to be honest but as the twin says I can't see how it can be transformed in the summer with no cash . Lennon inherited a squad of championship journeymen and has only signed one player beyond the summer . We at least have in clough, Clayton and janko three young players who ...

Re: Looking forward
Our weakness on a 3 centre-half idea isn't down to whether we have the centre-halves, once they got used to it, but whether we have suitable wing-backs ... which we don't by the way. It's a big change and I assume it's being thoroughly tried out in training but we aren't ready Feeney and vela might...

Re: Looking forward
Total new 3 man defence ! Rumour is that Liverpool have offered to swap can for ream, John terry fancies a move up north and Chelsea think may mills is tailor made for his role and threlkeld is being held back ready to burst on the scene as the next beckenbauer in the new season . Mind you they'd st...

Re: Wigan, away.
Trotter is fecking rubbish....he is absolutely utter dog shite, get rid. If he is in the side next season we will be in the same position as we are now, its like playing with 10 men he adds nothing, slow, lethargic, disinterested. Ream, Mills & Feeney can also go for me along with Danns There is a ...
