Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

It's not because we're seen as a soft touch as well is it? I was thinking - who did we last get top dollar for or when did we last get some mugs to overpay? Got decent wedge for Anelka thanks to him signing a contract extension (under Sammy Lee?) Yeah Anelka is really the only one that comes to min...

Re: The Politics Thread

Brexit has stunted our growth. That's hundreds of billions gone. I'm glad you're at least saying "stunted our growth" now rather than talking about the GDP dropping. That's one step in the right direction. No forecast that I've seen has shown ANY indication of the GDP dropping. Now let's examine th...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Signed myself up for the Manchester Run in the Dark in November (5k) to give myself something to aim for again. How time has flown. Not as practised as I should be but ah well! Anyone else from here doing this? Debating internally between shorts and trousers atm :D. Still haven't done a PR yet. Tha...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

Just to put into perspective what Ken is suggesting: We're currently averaging 0.2 points per game from the 12 matches we've played. So he thinks that getting 10X that in the rest of our matches is achievable. We've got 34 matches remaining. To hit that 74 point target we'd need: 17 wins, 17 draws a...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?

There was at least one poster on here who claimed they'd make no difference... What they were probably meaning to suggest is that with or without those players we'd still lose the majority of our games and/or still going to get relegated. This one result doesn't prove or disprove that particular an...

I have more chance of winning the euro millions than Wanderers getting 3 points on Saturday, and I haven't even got a lotto ticket.
I hope you bought that ticket! :pissed:

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

Prior to Holdsworth coming in with his pay-day loan and finding Ken Anderson to secure the other half, how long had we been looking for someone to buy the club? According to Davies, he and Gartside had been trying to peddle the club for at least several years. We couldn't find a buyer during our dec...

Re: We may as well get Hammered - Carawotsit cup (A) 19 Sept

Reading the Sky Sports commentary sounds (and quite accurately I see from reading above) incredibly one-sided, with West Ham shot after West Ham shot. Have we even had a shot? I'd take an off target shot at this stage!

Are we still laughing at West Ham? If so why?
They are a never ending source of delusion and feck.
And we need to do something to distract ourselves from our own plight.

Re: The athletics/running thread

Trying to get back into my running again after stopping due to various niggles (straight after I got to 5k distance), and a holiday last month. Saw a sports physio last week to try and ensure I don't end up with those same injuries again. Did around 3 miles the other day, hoping to do around the sam...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

At least the immediate uncertainty has ended. His statement leaves a number of questions unaired, such as: 1.) Who now has responsibility for the payment of the Blumarble loan? KA or the club? 2.) If the club on what terms? Given the club is not making a profit, does this mean the club has to find ...

Re: What are you reading tonight?

Was chatting with a pal a couple of weeks ago about books we read in English Lit lessons at school. The only one I remember us covering which I wasn't so keen on at the time was Playboy of the Western World. Maybe if I were to read it again now I'd alter my view. Similarly but opposite, I have part...

I don't really agree with the immigration part of the Brexit debate, but considering the current discussion, this article may be of interest:

Re: The athletics/running thread

It's a smaller, relaxed group of around 15-20 people going around at their own pace. I will be there tomorrow night, possibly with HG, maybe even Bruce. Come and join us! Cheers for the offer but I think I need to take a few days off after what happened last night. :D Was out on a 3 mile run, steep...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Is that Darkrun a regular thing? Where does that happen? Same venue, with a slightly different course. The hills are still covered!! It's on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm from the car park by the leisure centre. Ah cool, cheers! I may check it out after I start with the parkruns. Do they still t...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Was anyone else at today's color run in Manchester? Was good fun :). I ran 5k for the first time on Thursday and then jumped straight into doing the 5k color run today. Somehow managed to do it in under 28 minutes too! Though my running app claims I only ran 2.6 miles, so not sure where the other h...

Crewe away as a youth, chippy nr the ground, my first ever experience of being met with that look like id just shat on the counter upon ordering a Chip Muffin! a look i would later see again again in any chippy outside of BL8! BL9 too. It's pretty common in Bury from when I went college/worked ther...
