Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm

WOW! What a game. My heart is racing and I'm shaking still. Initial impressions - I disagree that we were ever outplayed. They could take a lot more risks when they went 1 up and we always had to protect the back. I thought it was crazy to leave George on and take off Dempsey. But I think it just ab...

Well I'll eat my words.

Reminiscent of the dark Dougie days that one. Sideways, backwards, sideways, backwards nothing.

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.

I not sure I buy the big game bottler tag. 4-0 at Wembley last year. Not forgetting the semi-final before that. This season we've beaten Derby, Blackpool. Taken Luton to a replay (after they started to turn things around in the league). And I don't think there's any empirical evidence that the playe...

Nothing to be scared of here. If we weren't next door neighbours we'd be "expecting" to win this one. Midtable, 2 wins from 6.

Jordan Jones a possible injury would be a big loss.

Re: From a Pompey fan what’s your view on Boltons chance for remaining few games?

I could have put this in one of many threads. But trying to explain it to an outside perspective feels like useful context. We've all spent a lost of time soul searching since Saturday. Is the system right? Are the players right? Is rotation killing us? Or is it simply that our reserve keepers aren'...

Unpopular opinion time:

MJ Williams for me. Absolute rock. Shored up the back. Gave a creative outlet for the front. Broke up all play through the centre.

I would also argue that it was he whole gave Santos and Baps the platform to shine, knowing that the space in front of them was covered.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

I agree that most of the players we had previously won't be Ian Evatt types and we should instead look forward to seeing some new talent at the MacroBol. (As an aside, I hear on the grapevine that UoB used protected funds to pay for the stadium naming rights so would expect they’ll be required to ca...

Whislt I’m half disappointed, my head says this is the sensible approach. Keep the foundations, that have taken us this far, unchanged and have the options on the bench to switch things around if necessary.

Re: The future is hidden from all men and great events hang on small chances: Exeter (H) Sat 1/5/21 @ 3pm

Given the general pattern of play, what was that decision to leave three up top for a free kick where they had literally every player in the box? That may turn out to be season defining stupidity.

Still all to play for, but a playoff including Salford, Newport and Tranmere I do not like.

Exeter have become the 0-0 specialists of late. Holding both Newport, FGR and Southend to nil in the past three games. Prior to that, inconsistent at best. A 2-1 loss to Barrow followed up a 4-1 demolition of Cambridge. They play Grimsby tonight, a team still fighting for their lives. Here’s hoping ...

Re: Remaining fixtures

The Sarcevic thing has got false dawn written all over it - at least for his first game back. He’s been out for six weeks with a torn hamstring and I wouldn’t expect that he’ll burst onto the scene and dominate the top of the midfield as if he’d never been away. At best it’ll give Lee a chance to re...

Re: Retained list

I'm not sure of this has been posted elsewhere, or how much of it DSB has already confirmed bit by bit in numerous posts, but the EFL has released the official list of retained players. Looking at the size of some of the squads in the Championship against the size of ours puts into perspective the m...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

So this was the picture of our ownership as of October last year. Things have obviously changed a bit since then, what with Ken (i.e. Inner Circle Investments) agreeing to buy some (presumably newly created shares) in Sports Shield BWFC Limited, but should help to clarify the position - including, i...

Re: What will we need if we're in the Championship next season?

Be funny as owt if Redknapp takes them down. But probably not worth sacrificing the relegation of either Wigan or Blackburn - and not just for parochial amusement, but potential personnel pinching . Out of interest, who would you look to bring in from these clubs? Presumably Grigg would feature pro...
