Re: 'ello, 'ello, 'ello - Oh dear, not you again. Home v Leyton Orient - Sat. Jan 30 15:00

With Mansfield rearranged to Tuesday it's now a three-game week, so I wonder whether Evatt will be careful with Lee and (to an extent) Tutte. I think our strongest midfield trio right now is Tutte behind Lee and Sarce, but Tomo and (theoretically) Crawford should offer options, either in rotation or...

Mansfield game has been quickly rearranged for next Tuesday. Quite the three-game week now as it fits between Orient and Salford.

Re: Is football not a man's field? Away @ the Stags 26th Jan 2021

I would like to think that Bolton fans would get behind their team but I've been among them long enough to know it isn't always the case. We don't know how that would affect the relatively callow players and manager and even the more experienced souls might react – didn't Sarcevic have to come off T...

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?

It takes time. There have been big improvements to my eye over the past three games. We could have won each of the 3 games (and should have won one). Outside that winning run there aren't many games I can remember thinking that about. I mean, obviously we didn't, but performances are what you look ...

Re: Is football not a man's field? Away @ the Stags 26th Jan 2021

I agree that this forum is conservative in general, however even on here 36% would only give him a max of 6 games before wanting him potted, therefore on the other more argumentative platforms i.e. twitter it must be 40-50% of fans wanting him out or are very near to turning and wanting him out. Th...

I suspect if I put the same poll on Twitter, it'd get some different results! :-)
Aye, that's where the argumentative roam. You might think the same applies here, but TW polls on managerial futures are usually far more conservative than the conversation might imply. It's a signal/noise thing.

Re: Is football not a man's field? Away @ the Stags 26th Jan 2021

I actually think with the appalling run the team is on, Taft doing well at Scunthorpe, current very poor league position in Div 4, worst team in BWFC history - if we lose on Saturday at home to Orient the pressure on Evatt will be immense, I'm not saying all but a decent % of fans are already turni...

Re: Is football not a man's field? Away @ the Stags 26th Jan 2021

I very nearly started this thread at 3am with the title “A heartbreaking work of Stag-gering mediocrity” but I just read a book instead. First game this season I’ve gone in with more fear than hope. First I’ve expected us to lose. Guess I can cling to the notion that we have played better against th...

He did have reason to be aggrieved but I doubt there’s a sliding scale up to and including “if the ref has a 100% mare you can piss on his face.”

We must have had evidence/witnesses that Evatt’s actual words were not that bad.

Hmm I did fear this. It’s a blow. But I can’t blame player or club. On we go.

There's no way 2 clubs are overtaking us.
I do remember that DSB, Dave Webb's Southend won when we lost in the playoffs didn't they?
Can’t recall if its was Webb but that sounds believable. Alan Buckley’s Grimsby and late arrivals knocking us down into the playoffs - John Beck’s Cambridge...

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?

I simply can’t comprehend how anyone can say that’s anything but the lowest of the low. Well, sorry mate but I can't help your lack of comprehension. is there a risk that the season gets canned at 30 games? And if so if we find ourselves bottom 2 in a few games (as we are heading in the form...

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?

Are we allowed to include mitigating circumstances or are we a fully financial stable club not in an embargo any more? Are we less financially stable than many L2 teams right now? Which L2 clubs do you reckon had a much better transfer window than us because they weren't in an imposed embargo? Well...

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?

^^ Without defending nor attacking particular managers circumstances, we've generally been watching "shocking" for 10 years. Oh absolutely, the slide down the leagues has been horrible alongside the problems around ownership. We are one of those fallen ‘giants’ we used to look at with mock sympathy...

Re: When do we make a call on Evatt?

Right now I fear that I will simply give up if it continues like this. And funnily enough I worry many will do the same - the habit has been broken by lockdown and what we’ve had to watch in league two on our computers has been nothing short of shocking. Interesting thought on habit-breaking. I've ...

The thing is LE's magnanimous Tranmere friend doesn't have to sit through the same old story week after week: glimpses of promise outdone by idiocy, either collective or individual. Poor bugger has got months or years of Keith interviews to suffer though. Heh! Possibly, but I suspect the Bolton job...

5Xmn_MWiOeQ First goal is the first thing. Click here for Delaney clattering in to give away the crucial penalty (which the ref initially gives as a corner). Click here for Delaney's second yellow. Click here for Evatt's post-match red. For some reason, the official highlights don't include Manny M...

I think we're in need of a good, experienced coach, but I can't see Holloway being the answer to any of our problems. Unless our problem is a lack of opinionated gobshittery, which it plainly isn't... (While we're on the subject, I hear that there's a touch of friction between Holloway and Evatt, d...
