Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
I've really enjoyed this season. Some great games, goals, occasions etc. Feck ups v Wigan, disgraceful reffing performance at Blackpool and a general feeling that we're a better side than our points tally, aside - there haven't been many better. The whole memory though, and whether its been a succe...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
The 2 Parkinson seasons that ended with the pitch invasions had happy finale's but both were turgid, boring seasons with some absolutely shocking football and results into the mix. Remembered for their relative successes, not for their enjoyment. Most of that Championship season was spent watching ...

Fitted for suits. Like it's a jolly day out. This lack of focus is why we'll never get anywhere.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Leicester forum reaction seems to coalesce around "maybe a lower-half Champo / upper League One player". Most think he's better as a LWB than LB in a four, but there's a few warning notes over lack of physicality. And they really do hate Chilwell. https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/134853-luke-thomas...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
One goal and one assist in 24 second-tier appearances (albeit 16 of them as sub, not always in the middle of the front 3, and most importantly all for a plummeting Barnsley). Also turns 30 next May. Not sure he'd top my list.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 7:44 pmCole is an odd one. feel like he may be a league one player…

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Interested to see Barnsley's retained/released list when it emerges. Per Transfermarkt, among those falling out of contact are Devante Cole, Nicky Cadden, Herbie Kane and Jordan Williams. Jamie McCart's also been listed by Rotherham, whence he was loaned to the Tykes... Maybe they'll all go to Hudd...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
It's also reacting to events. 64 of the 72 EFL teams have finished their seasons and are announcing their released/retained lists, and among them will be players we might target. Natural to speculate thereupon (and it fills the nervous days). If we stay down, it's more about who we might lose, but I...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Can we make space if needed? If we stay down I don't think that'll be a problem, as some will have offers and want out. Who are you expecting to walk if we stay down? I must admit I'm not expecting a stampede. Still questions over Santos. Sheehan's 29. Maaaaybe interest in Dion (again) but we've ha...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Positional flexibility means it's not always this simple, but one basic way to look at squad depth is XI vs XI. Without descending into "he's better than him" arguments, next season we have these players under contract: .............Charles Collins......... Williams Thomason Dempsey JDC ...............

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Would anyone take Kioso vacation? Seems to have jumped between a few clubs in Champo/Lg1 including loan deals. Did okay for us and experience of a division up. I think part of why he left was couldn't settle oop North, mate...so dunno... And yet he was at Rotherham lol Luton, Northampton, Milton Ke...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Up front, if we lose JDB and Cam in summer, that feels like space. A bit of space, but not much, considering we'll have AC, DC, Vic and Dan – all strikers Evatt spent club money on - plus CMG as a wildcard fifth forward. Doesn't mean I don't think we should have an eye out - for instance, I wonder ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I would suspect that players "like" Ogbeta and Azeez are more likely candidates than "bigger" names. If we do go up, we will be suddenly swimming in a pond of sizeable fishies. Doesn't mean success is impossible (ask Ian's mate Rob Edwards) but we'll have to be savvy. If we need say five signings, I...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
Ah no worries, it was always likely they'd go down. I assume, the weather being nice, we'll get to see Vinny Kompany doing his full Kendall-off- Succession impression. Also been a bit weird this season wanting them to do well because Traf was in goal. As soon as they dropped him, I could once more d...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I take it you wouldn't want to sign Ogbeta or Ashworth, then? I've quite liked both, especially Nat, but I can see what you mean. We need players who will raise the ceiling - or indeed the roof.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I'm not sure what discussions on here have been, but I have us needing 5-6 (minimum 4) in over the summer - unless we lose some to big bids. Not so much discussions as Schopenhauerian laments about the futility of attempting to find joy given the inevitability of disappointment because true fulfilm...
