Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Until serial denier LeeAn says otherwise we're chasing the services of Brescia left back Felipe Curcio - according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato. The Brescia (a club owned by former Leeds United president Massimo Cellino) fullback has only played 17 Serie B games - although these were at the end ...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Club statement: https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2018/july/club-statement/ Bare bones, but they wanted it out of the way and it is. Phrasing the players and club as different entities was poor, but that's just PR stuff. Would have looked better if there was more "we" and they spoke about "the board" and...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
It'll be interesting to see if the players reviewed that statement before it was released. It's designed to blame them. If they've not seen it in advance I can see them not being happy.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Ken's pulled out of the PFA meeting. I think we're about to go "pop". Aldridge is still going. The "line" is that everything is already agreed and Ken needs to finish some deals. We'll see. This....which is fair enough, I'd prefer KA to be concentrating on bringing players in or speaking to potenti...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Taking players like that on trial at this stage makes sense, even if we are still after others. If they are our fall-back position, we can use the trial to get some fitness into them and make sure they're of use. I've no issue with looking at players, but if we do go for those players then we have t...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Reporting from the behind-closed-doors game with Morecambe, Iles thinks he sees Gary O'Neil and David Cotterill among the Wanderers subs. Not sure how I feel about that. O'Neil as a squad player to fill in when Lowe is inevitably suspended, okay. I only ever rated him for his energy and he lost tha...

Reporting from the behind-closed-doors game with Morecambe, Iles thinks he sees Gary O'Neil and David Cotterill among the Wanderers subs. Maybe Gary O'Neill's kid is playing? Cotterill is about what I expected. At the start of the summer I'd have taken Cotterill, thinking we'd lose Sammy and be lef...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
If that's right, he might be a good one to get in. He's a good age and he's regarded as one of the best keepers below the Championship. He's been at Colchester a long time and there was stuff in the league football press about them trying to keep him. Their manager said at the time he'd been their s...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
If the chairman refuses to make a payment then the FA could, in theory, place us under embargo. It strikes me as very unlikely. Conspiracy theorists might say an embargo would provide Anderson with an excuse for not signing more players, I suppose. Fans around here (West Yorkshire) expect Wyke to go...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Nobody thought Wyke was going anywhere for less than 500k. The only reason he'd be available for less than 1mil is because his contract is expiring and Bradford can't afford not to sell. He's got a decent strike rate over a number of seasons and he also makes goals. Any player who is in the goals fo...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Sunderland are a League One club who should get promoted at the first time of asking, whereas we could well be going the opposite way. If they were offering significantly more cash to the player I wouldn't say it's a shoe-in he chooses us. Depends what "significantly more" would mean there. If Sund...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Sunderland have apparently put cash bids in for Wyke and Mo Eisa to use as a pairing next season. If we had the money spare that'd work for us, I reckon. Eisa will be a good signing for someone this summer.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Sunderland are a League One club. We've brought in some decent signings and are a division above them. They're even more of a basket case than we are at the moment. If we have the money, PP really wants him and Ken fails to get that deal done I can see PP going spare. What PP has indicated is that t...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
. If we always say that realism means we have to constantly work to avoid relegation then we will eventually get relegated. We'll sign whoever comes available and end up with dross. At the moment, we're actually signing the kinds of players I, as a fan, want us to sign. Whether they work out is ano...
