Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Think that's only part correct - so yeah, their registration is recognised. There was alway a Directors, statement in the Accounts about value of the squad as a sell on estimate. It used to seem pretty hypothetical to me and got knocked down a shitload when we got relegated from the Prem and again ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Player investment isn't just about resale, though - it's also about having assets on the books that raise the overall value of the business. Squads are a major part of how much a football club is worth. That impacts terms of financial instruments, risk assessments and all that banking jazz. If inves...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Its all over twitter, but it can't be true - why on earth would Rangers be looking to get rid, he's one of their best defenders and on decent wages (way to high for us) Would find it utterly bizarre, yes. Still has 2 years left on his deal and is playing well. If it's just a Twitter rumour then fai...

One that would make everyone happy, I'd imagine.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 6:29 pmA few rumours of Rangers CB Connor Goldson joining us, if true I'm not sure how we afford his wages never mind any fee.
Loads of experience, good on the ball, physical, reads the game well.
What's the sourcing?

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
I had thought Zak Jules might be a more attainable target, if we were looking to add physicality and pace to the back three; but he's being rather strongly linked with Plymouth too. Not surprising that they're picking up the kinds of players that might work for us. Similar football, not much money b...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
That's fair but equally I'm not that bothered about missing out. Probably a good move for all parties. Can't say I'm distraught, no. If we'd signed him I'd have taken the positives regarding his potential, but he has a lot to learn. I would have said he'd do well at Plymouth, but I have to say I'm ...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Only a rumour for now anyway. Would be amazed if we were able to find the cash in the first place and attract him in the second. No idea what the sourcing is, but it would be the first in a while to genuinely surprise me. Obviously loads I've not seen coming, but I'd wonder how on earth that one ha...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Nixon being asked to verify whether we are interested in Tyler Bindon, a teenage Reading centre-back. Won the fan site’s YPoTY award at a canter. Described as a good ball player, you’ll be astonished to hear. Widely regarded as one of the hottest defensive prospects around. That'd be a statement. N...

Re: Tonight's Football
It's basically UEFA's version of the EFL Trophy.
A club that wins it can make somewhere around £15m from winning it, though. That really matters.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Oggy has plenty of ability.
He was the best of the January loanees and we should acknowledge how hard it is for a young player to come in and make an impact with no preseason.
Best of luck to him and thanks for Carlisle.

Lovely moment tonight for Stelios' former club in his home town.
This will be ridiculously huge in Greek football.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Charlton won 11 games last season - the fewest of any team outside the bottom 3. If you can't say we're better placed than them at the minute then you can't make any qualitative statements of any kind about football.
This is not a conversation that needs to be had.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Hard to prove a counterfactual, but I'd be fairly confident in putting that midfield in a team that worked properly everywhere else. Easily good enough to slot into a top League One side. Doesn't matter now, with Paris gone. We can only look at next season now. I'd not be getting rid of what we have...

its not in any way a piss take. A take...as in a bold opinion. Not as in a "piss take", Bertie. I obviously don't agree with you, but I don't begrudge you your view. I hold a lot of views about football that would have me in a minority, I'd suggest this is one of yours. I think most Bolton fans wou...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
I will say as I've said previously that I don't rate our midfield at all, and think that its the weakest part of our team. Game of opinions, as they say. Have to say I find that one pretty amazing. Sheehan clearly our player of the season. Paris got young player. Thommo being talked of as a future ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
As delighted as when they scored three at our gaff? Interesting example, given the topic. Very rarely seen a team miss a player as much as we missed Santos in that one. Overall I'd say I'm precisely as delighted as you get to be by finishing 34 points above a team that's spending more money than yo...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
I have a distant memory of the Charlton home game last season, and I was really impressed with their midfield going forward with the ball - their movement, mobility, pace and how quickly they moved the ball. We are very slow at moving the ball & lack intensity in a lot of games. Have to say I'm abs...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
When thinking about how to win this division it's probably more helpful to look at the teams that have gone up recently, rather than the Bolton teams of days gone by.
