Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
None of these things are related of course - parking issues, flags, the performance. All entirely independent. But it just all adds up to the ‘mental picture of the day’ that will last. Kind of symbolic. They're not related other than the club higher-ups should have sorted the details on the non-pl...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
The current one is also not very likeable and wins lots of football matches.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Change to a 433, however you cut it, and the FB isn't the striker's job anymore. Dion's pressing stays contained and we get more minutes out of him. Essentially you press with 3 (or 4 if you want to play a 10 to do that) rather than 2. Dion's phenomenal work rate aside he's not quick enough to run ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
I think he'd take it unless he has better offers in the championship, we are a more attractive proposition than some may think. If Alex Neil wants to get back into football, I don't think wages would be an issue - great stadium, decent fan base, good chairwomen, ambitious board etc. possibly a dece...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
This is a bit shambolic. https://twitter.com/BurndenAces/status/1792595962667339975 The whole thing was a shambles. The ticket mess up, the logistics around flags/clappers, parking, etc. You can blame the short turn around time, but there's no way stuff like parking shouldn't have been worked out w...

Unfortunately, so do I. Thankfully I doubt we can afford his wages.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 6:44 pmAlex Neil more I think about it is a very good shout. Young still with room to grow. Has a promotion to the championship and premiership under his belt already. Sure he might not fancy it. But I definitely see the logic.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
But it’s about creating the sort of spirit and whatever that Oxford had for the last 12 games. They weren’t the best side but they went up. Because their collective overcame sides with better players. You get what I’m saying. That’s the job next season. Being the tactically best manager getting eve...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Nope, born 6/9/02 so he's 21. This season just dying now is also the final underage season for Matheson, Khumbeni, Sithole, Hutchinson and Carty. So does that mean we currently have zero outfield players we don't need to register? I'm befuddled by birthday cake and wouldn't trust my recall right now.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
Do you think he in any way is the sort of manager to deliver a side that can do that? I get it mate, you have a "WWSD?" tattoo on your arse. I don't care how Sam would do it. If Evatt is the manager I care how he will do it. If it's someone else I'll care how he will do it. Sam was over 15 years ag...

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread
The rumoured (and I stress rumoured) wages/bonuses to get these lads in through the door early at Rotherham are a bit eyewatering at this level. If there's any agent with a player who might fit they're walking barefoot to Rotherham if needed. Suppose we should be happy they're looking for different ...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
Either way, that gets us to 7. :-) Well, 4-7 with the emphasis probably on 4. We are carrying 19(?) players into next season. Before we get into squad registration there's limited space there for new arrivals. Oi, DSB...is Zac Ashwoth a freebie next season, or do we need to register him? Don't make...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm
even with the #115charges. The 115 charges thing is valid, but that's on the money men. To win 4 in a row, even with a financial advantage, is incredible work from the football staff and players. It's not like Man Utd didn't have a vast, vast advantage in money when they were kings of England. Ther...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
4WBs and a "good as Maghoma" MF doesn't sound cheap, but our Swiss contingent tell us they understand what it takes.. I don't understand the "4 wingbacks" bit. 2 wingbacks, serious centre half and a midfielder are the "must haves." #2 keeper, another mid and a striker with genuine pace are the "wou...

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
For the record, I don't think we need 4 *new* WBs. Randell and Cogz fine as options for some games. What I would like is two better alternatives than Ogbeta/Ashworth on one side and... Geth? Matheson? on the other. Cogley and Williams have, at times, performed admirably down those flanks. They're n...

Joe Rafferty joins JCH at Rotherham.
Steve Evans and two experienced, quality players.
Insane may need to switch clubs at this rate.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?
The thing about continuity is it's ultimately a solid business decision.
Radical change is expensive.
We've made investments with a projected return. We will have a limited budget this summer.
Obviously not going up costs us money every season, but cash is currently the issue.

Given I live about a mile from the ground I was thrilled city win yesterday. Last thing I needed was a week long street party. Saw photos on twitter of their forlorn looking victory arch  I think going around and applauding and stuff is fitting. They have played some great stuff and it's been ...
