Yeah, I wasn't arguing the point. Merely sort of agreeing with you, with a bit of an extra worry.

Evatt might be on a promotion season and people could still turn on a sixpence at the first sight of a hiccup.

"Here we go again" is bound to be a concern, even when we're going well.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

On the Norwich theme, Placheta was released by Swans.

Lad would tear League One to bits, fitness allowing.

Re: Should I(E) stay or should I(E) go?

Parky's promotion season we conceded 36 goals. Last season we conceded 36 goals.

We've been told both that the manager can't coach defending like Parky can and the defenders aren't as good as Parky's defenders were.

How does that work?

Am I correct that we are required to produce our retained list this week?

TBF, I think Ainsworth has fewer votes in favour than keeping Evatt - he's got one with maybe a second pick after Duff from Dibs...Move on. The "get ridders" sometimes don't help themselves much... :-) They don't, but equally your point about "dead man walking" isn't miles off. Like I say, every pr...

Absolutely respect all that. And it’s hard to express it accurately on here. Santos is indeed a physical monster and when he’s in that mode is very good. The problem is he’s rarely in that mode and when he’s not is a liability. And certainly doesn’t dominate strikers when he’s not on it. Yes. Howev...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

The reality is that all the promoted managers got close to the sack last season. All three had fans calling for their heads, all got called bottlers, etc. Mousinho and Bucks did genuinely good jobs. They navigated difficult moments when they could have lost their jobs, under really difficult circums...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

We’ve been a laughing stock at Wembley twice now. Not sure which performance was worse… maybe Saturday is still too raw. Stoke. Easily. We were crap against Oxford. Really bad. But they didn't absolutely batter us like Stoke did. If Stoke had fancied it they could have turned it on and had 8 or 9. ...

Re: Rising in Wembley's Glow: A Bolton Wanderers Tale - Bolton vs Oxford. 18th May 2024, 4.15pm

We didn’t. We were the team they didn’t want to play. We absolutely did. Let's not rewrite history here. "Fat Sam and his hoofball merchants" were constant targets. After the loss in the final against Boro it was there for months. Same when we were going bust. When we went down under Owen. I could ...

Oxford singing about us on their open top bus parade. One of the worst things is how much of a laughing stock Evatt has made of us.

I'm desperately trying to work a Superman / Supera Moras pun here but I'm not getting there.
If we spend much longer in League One we'll have to change it to "Super Morass."

Nice touch this. I wish him well. Never rated him in the beginning as his work rate, defensive side and flirting in and out of games with flashy dribbles didn't impress me. But credit to him, he clearly worked on his game and became a valuable player to us in the end. Which is also to the credit of...

I thought ours was much better than their rather dull dude. Except when ours was reading the teams and got to Ogbeta, for whom he had no daft little name, and just said "Number 17, er... Nathanael Ogbeta."
Perhaps an each to their own then. Not worth verbiage hashing it out.

More "stay" voters than "go" now. Only by the famous 52-48% split, but y'know.

Re: Tooling up: The summer 2024 transfer thread

So with Paris gone we need to replace what he offers, but the player we sign also needs to be able to win the ball, battle in the air and lead the team by running through brick walls.

That Clark Kent lad who plays for Sporting Kansas is supposed to be good...

Yeah, if they don't make you wanna vomit, that probably helps, but we're a football team, not a dating app.
I have my reasons for not liking some people in football. Alex Neil, Danny Murphy and others. I'd not want them associated with my football club and I'll leave it at that.
