Re: Will we be at the races? Cheltenham (h) Saturday 16 Jan 15:00 KO (GMT)

According to Iles, we made 576 passes today. 101 of them came from Jackson.

Evatt described Gnahoua as an "impact" player in his post-match interview, saying that he wants to get some structure and pitch intelligence in him.

It sound like he's going to have a wait on his hands.

To clarify, I mean Arthur not Evatt.

We do need to improve our crosses. Too often they fail to beat the first defender, and on the rare occassions they don't they're either overhit or floated unthreateningly.

Unconvincing, as ever. It's another point against one of the league's better teams, but should really have been more.

I think this is our lot now until next season. It's just about getting through it.

What sense is there in playing Gnahoua on the right?

Should've been a free kick to us for the foul on Santos, but we've got to do better when it comes in.

Re: Will we be at the races? Cheltenham (h) Saturday 16 Jan 15:00 KO (GMT)

Dropping Tutte (on bench) seems madness. The away match vs this lot is the only game we won without him starting. Hope the left back is strong and good in the air. It's interesting that Evatt started Greenidge when we played them the first time in an effort to counteract the expected aerial bombard...

Re: Will we be at the races? Cheltenham (h) Saturday 16 Jan 15:00 KO (GMT)

A few things that jump out: 1. Finally some strength in depth 2. No goalkeeper on the bench again 3. Surprisingly no Tutte - it would seem harsh to have dropped him so I can only assume he struggles to play twice in such a short space of time 4. Arthur must feel (somewhat justifiably) annoyed he's b...

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread

And as for the rumoured inexperienced signings, maybe they're just quite good and worth signing because they'll improve us?

Not every signing has to be, or can be, a long-term one.

Re: Making HMS YouKnowWhat ship-shape: Winter 20/21 transfer thread

What if there are 'out of contract' players out there who can improve our first 11 but just aren't currently fit enough ?, surely its better to sign them now and get them integrated into the set up, used to the style of play etc. so that they can hit the ground running next season, instead of bring...

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

Intriguing. Not brilliant. Not even very good, really. But intriguing, and we move on with hope. Add the word frustrating and that's been my summation after about half our performances under Evatt. I do have faith we'll come good - we bloody should do anyway - but I also think we'll limp along for ...

I've never seem a team that aspires to play passing football find it so difficult to play a simple pass to a teammate.

This match has the feel of one of those where we win when there's barely any expectation to.

Re: Exeter Expects. Exeter City v Bolton (A) - 19:00 - 12th Jan

If Greenidge wasn't suspended I think we'd have stuck with the team that finished the last match. As it is, I think Delaney will replace him and we'll line up in a 4-3-3. Gilks; Brocky, Santos, Delaney, Jones; Sarce, Tutte, Thomason; Isgrove, Doyle, Delf Lee to replace Thomason after an hour. (Covid...
