Re: Summer 2020 transfers

A warm welcome to the fourth Guyanese international to sign for the club.

(It's probably not good news for Brockbank and Edwards, unfortunately)

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Rhys Turner played under Evatt at Barrow before retiring after a number of injuries. Presumably he now feels fit enough to give it another go. Rumour has it we also had Ed Francis and Andrew Tutte playing for us. Francis is a centre-back who can also play at left-back and defensive midfield, Tutte i...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I don't have a problem with us signing a young goalkeeper as our number one provided he's confident enough. There seems to have been a trend developing recently of young goalkeepers getting opportunities (it's probably that someone spotted a market that could be exploited and others followed suit).

A Trialist was all over in the second half. Boom. Boom

He's not getting about as much as he used to. He was practically everywhere a few years ago... :)

Pre-Season Friendlies

It seems we're playing a pre-season friendly against Atherton Collieries this afternoon.

The starting line-up is apparently as follows:

Crillen (rumoured to be signing on a season-long loan from Fleetwood Town)

Hickman, Santos, Delaney, Taft, Gordon

Comley, Thomasson, Crawford

(trialist), Doyle

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly had an interest in him during the last transfer window, with them seeing him as "a potential star in the making" according to THIS ARTICLE.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Re Greenidge: I can only think his strange career history was an effort to try and avoid the tribunal fee due for players under the age of 24?

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

He seems to be a footballing defensive midfielder, ideally suited for one of the two No.8's in Evatt's 3-4-1-2 I'd imagine.

Given his age and his previous club's apparent underappreciation of him, I think he might be the first of what we could call the "Moneyball" signings.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I'm still not sure about offering a (reportedly well-paid) three-year contract to a thirty-two year old, though.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

I suppose it could be two years with an option for a third year, which would be more reasonable.

Clearly the registration embargo isn't as restrictive as I thought it would be.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

A three-year contract for a 32-year-old, and apparently on "good money". He could be excellent for us, but I feel a tad unnerved by that.

Re: Contract expiry

Mike Pollitt has left the club. I feel for him to be honest, he left a good job to return to his hometown club and now finds himself unemployed. Indeed, it's a shame for him. I note that Ian Evatt has brought with him Lewis Duckmanton, who at Barrow combined the roles of analyst and GK coach. I'd b...
