Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Loan striker/winger the most likely option then?

I wonder how high up the ladder we'll be able to go in search of loanees. I would guess that the style of football IE is looking to play would positively dispose some of the bigger clubs to lending us their youngsters.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Bradford fans saying that he's signing or has signed for them ? He used to play for Bradford, under McCall, but it sounds like a decision is expected today. Had this decision been made in July I'd be more confident of us winning. So it goes. If he comes, we cheer; if he doesn't, we shrug (and boo w...

Question for the group...who in the squad can compete with Hickman up the field if we don't make a signing?
There aren't many obvious options. I guess Fonz at a push and seemingly this Finlay Lockett if Evatt thinks he's ready.

I think with the improvement which can be expected week-to-week from a brand new squad, the goal scoring chances should increase for Newport (dependent upon their style of play of course). Things clearly began to click for us much more on Saturday, as evidenced in the graphical analysis provided by...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

After yesterday I feel like my Zona Mista thought experiment is at least close to right, given that Evatt "tweaked" his system by going from 3-at-the-back to almost exactly the system Juventus played in the 90s. If it is, then yeah, the sensible transfers to make now would be two of a tricky forwar...

As has been said, the goal was again Santos' fault for just falling asleep. Passing is sloppy and slow and the players are always 5-10 yards out of position to receive the ball - but it's still better. Don't get me wrong, unless we improve another 40-50% we'll never win a game of football this seas...

Blimey, this is a million times better already. Much more composure on the ball, Hickman brings tremendous energy, Fonz has started extremely well and overall we look comfortable with our system.

Last week has certainly tempered my enthusiasm for this one, but I’ll still stump up my tenner in the hope that it can’t get much worse.

If Crawford starts at 10 and Evatt ditches the White-Comley axis I’ll go for a 1-1 draw.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Iles says we've had to give up on David Ball. Not the Soft Cell keyboardist. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/18729412.bolton-wanderers-frustrated-wellington-phoenix-striker-david-ball-chase/ The positives to take from that piece are we clearly have at least one squad space left, and also a re...

Reading the comments about Sarcevic over the last few weeks it seems that he's almost the invisible man. Do you think that relieving him of the armband and the responsibility that comes with it would help? If so, do we have an alternative in the squad? Sarcevic has been depicted as being most comfo...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

If we I had the option now I would probably swap Zouma for one of the incumbents, but given we now have at least six senior CBs on our books I probably wouldn't be in favour of adding him. Someone like Carey on the other hand I would certainly be interested in. It may well have been nerves/system is...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

The rules aren’t clear but on squad size (embargo-enforced) we’re surely all but down to one in one out. Every incomer now would mean loaning out either a kid (if that even helps embargo-wise) or someone he’s already signed. And that’s before we consider the non-embargo wage cap... how much wiggle ...

Re: Summer 2020 transfers

Zouma is a possibility, confirms Evatt, who blames agents for making players unemployed by inflating wage expectations. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/18717658.bolton-wanderers-consider-contract-offer-former-defender-yoan-zouma/ We wanted to keep him [in summer] and now he’s back in the buil...

Re: Haven't Seen You Her-Bi-Vore. Inaugural Meat-ing. Forest Green Rovers (H) Sat 12/09/20 15:00 (Division 4)

I don’t see how IE can expect to play an expansive, attacking style of football with so few ball players in the side. At a minimum I’d want Crawford to start the next game, but Tutte also looked a big upgrade on Comley and I think we need another more creative player through the door as well. I thin...
