Almost 8500 ST's sold, apparently. Reasonable effort under the circumstances.

Re: What are you reading tonight?

Started Bill Bryson's Mother Tongue on the train down to London on Sunday. Quite enjoyable so far. Read it years ago. Thought it was excellent. Recently tried reading his history of America in the 20s but struggling to maintain interest in it. Am about 10 pages from the end of Thunderbolt Kid. A su...

Apparently Lagercrantz is a committed pacifist and would brook no violence in his book, and of course the Larsson books were built around violence. One of the few books I've started and never finished. Life's too short for books that yo...

Re: General Chit Chat

Just had my second call of the morning from scammers from India claiming to be from 'the Technical Department at BT' and wanting to protect me from hackers who had access to my computer. I managed to string this one along for almost 15 minutes before he accused me of playing smarts with him and hun...

Re: What are you reading tonight?

There may be more by now but the book is 'The Girl in the Spider's Web' by David Lagercrantz Same characters, new story. Just starting that one ...

Re: What are you reading tonight?

I seem to be on a time travel theme with most of my reading so far this year. Ben Elton started it with his Time and Time Again, which is a really good boys-own romp through time, mainly the run up to the first world war. Lots of twists and turns and shocks. I then found the Chronicles of St Marys s...

Yep, she has had a chat with a counsellor this afternoon and has got it more in perspective. She has been advised to seek professional guidance though and we may well do that. Luckily we are off to a Greek island tomorrow so will wash some of it off in the Aegean. Have a great time and good luck to...

Re: General Chit Chat

Mrs C had a terrible experience yesterday morning. We were just getting up when her daughter phoned and asked her to go check on a friend who wasn't feeling too well. There was no sense of urgency about it or I would have gone too. Anyway, this friend is 39 and in general good health and she opened ...

Re: The Official You Tube/weird world thread.

You may have seen the 'news' story yesterday about the female GMP assistant Chief Constable who has been suspended after a row with a female Superintendent about who had the best boobs.... honestly, I'm not making this up. This is the cartoon in todays Times: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1099...
