Re: Pointing the way. Stevenage at home Sat, 3rd May 3-0'clock

What today showed I think - if it needed showing is that we aren’t much if any better than Stevenage. A number of their players would have got in our side today. A decent number. This might be the biggest rebuild since Allardyce arrived and had to sell half a team. Only he had a fair few worth keep...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Personally, I was hoping Hull would come down. There's ownership and financial issues there that could make them next year's Reading and it's a good away day. A financially laden Luton may be next seasons Brum.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Baxter's been awful on crosses this season, rarely coming out to catch the simplest of high balls into the box ("Lift yer arms man!") or opting to slap it out instead. He's looked significantly uncomfortable in so many circumstances this season but the defensive carnage in front won't have helped. I...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Another keeper I spotted was Thimothee Lo-Tutala. Contracted to Hull until 2028 but yet to make an appearance for them. Some loan time at Doncaster and Crawley. 6'1 which isn't quite the behemoth most of us want in there. Like others, I've not been convinced by Southwood. Baxter, of the season befor...

Re: Pointing the way. Stevenage at home Sat, 3rd May 3-0'clock

My own support has wavered for this one I'm afraid. We've not missed a home match all year in any competition and managed a handful of aways but a long weekend away was too attractive to pass up. 2-1 win.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

I liked the look of the lad at Doncaster, Teddy Sharman-Lowe who saved a penalty last weekend. On loan from Chelsea, I thought another loan a division up in a more pressurised environment might give us a shout but alas, Google says they want him playing Championship football next season.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

I reckon we can move on at least 2/3 of our contracted players, and I’d anticipate we’ll bring in 3 loanees. So maybe 7 new faces in the summer - should be enough to build a team good enough to challenge for the title. I hope you're right but as said on here before, no one has a 100% success rate o...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Was me that. I've since had my head turned by Michael Smith.

I think we've a good manager in Schumacher and I'm confident he can improve us. It might take 2 or 3 transfer windows though. We may have to be patient.

Like us, they've had a shocking season after reaching the play offs in the last two. They've been worse than us this year but seem to be finishing stronger. 1-3 loss.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Saw it mentioned elsewhere about Schumacher potentially being stuck with one or two sulkers next season after calling them out. Having seen Michael Appleton's comments re his Shrewsbury squad "some of them make my skin crawl!", it could be an interesting pre season there if he gets the gig full time!

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

I can't see the logic in keeping Baxter. He's one of the few players out of contract and probably one of the bigger earners. He's been too poor this season to warrant a pay rise and I can't imagine his agent will be negotiating a pay cut on a new contract, so let it run down and look for a cheaper r...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Schumacher particularly mentioned needing a wide man and Barkhuizen is a good shout. Danny Ward's out of contract at Huddersfield but hasn't featured much this season and we've enough broken or fragile personnel to think about adding to them. If the Juke is too old how about Michael Smith at Wednesd...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Most have reached their peak and level. Looking at the squad I can think of only Morley, Tutu and maybe Toal who have the "potential" with improvements to cut it above L1. The rest have peaked. Not good if we are looking to get promoted next season with this squad. Cut it above league 1 is a differ...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

As bad as this season has been, and there have been several lowlights, hammerings and embarrassment in there - incredibly we were still in touch of the play offs at 4.30pm today. It doesn't need a mass clear out or revolution to improve on that next year. See I think it does because our issues are ...

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

Much as I've lost trust in most of this current lot, conversely, you could see any of them thriving in another side or with different players alongside them. Sheehan, Collins, McAtee, even Lolos & Randall.

Re: Schu me the way to Amarillo - Summer 2025 Transfer Thread

He can get rid of anyone for me. The one signing we absolutely need is a coach (not at Schumacher level) who undertsands "defence." Agreed. This is my worry with SS. After the new manager bounce, he's hardly made us hard to beat, stronger on set pieces etc. I expect to see us look a lot lot better ...

The softest team in our history don't half pick up a lot of yellows and daft reds.
