I am always astounded at the prices of season tickets and general admission in the Premiership. While the local competition is hardly Premiership standard a season ticket for Sydney FC games costs the equivalent of about £63. You can see the membership plans here: http://fans.sydneyfc.com/membership...

What a lovely thought, Monty. While I am against capital punishment per se, the idea that this piece of vermin could be erased during a legitimate police operation brought a smile to my face.

why put a nightwatchman in??? Damned if I know, Commie. I was flabergasted when he walked out - against a fired up McGrath with an almost-new ball he was always going to struggle. A strange decision as far as I'm concerned. A nicely crafted century from Cook and apart from the last couple of overs ...

NOW I see what's a-happening. Sheesh, talk about slow in the cerebral department, it's about time I appointed a new manager.

Thanks, TANGO.

My corks must be affecting my reception. All I get when attempting to view the 'card' is an invitation to upload something.

By all means, TANGO, attach my felicitations to the communal love in.

Vale Clay Regazzoni

I was saddened this morning to hear of the death in a motor vehicle accident of 'Clay' Regazzoni, the Swiss ex-F1 driver. As many of you are no doubt aware he was confined to a wheelchair after an accident at the US circuit Long Beach many years ago. Clay was an ebullient sort of fellow and brought ...

Longsight Primary - 1949 - 1955 (I think)
Farnworth Grammar - Well, I was accepted but didn't make it as I was transported before the school year started.

Two or three here, but they'd mean nothing to most of you.

While I sympathise with those taken to the cleaners by such criminals there is an 'easy out' clause built into your brain. This is simply 'if you don't have the money don't spend it'. I am an ex-manager of the customer service area of a credit card organisation (read 'bank'). Should my experience be...

What an unbelievably incompetent display of batting. How on Earth can you amass over 550 runs (and declare at six for) in your first innings and then collapse in a heap as England did? I wonder what the bookies are offering for the next three tests? I could hardly bring myself to read the newspaper ...

Just popped in to find out the score (I do work sometimes you know) and it's 7-100.

Talk about snatch defeat from the jaws of victory . . . In the words of the venerable Victor Meldrew: I can't belieeeeeve it.

Yesterday I was having a bit of a shot at the England batsmen for being slow in run gathering. Today it's Australia's turn. Their innings proved even slower. Maybe we should revert to the old system (and I do mean old) where tests are open ended and the teams battle on until such time as a result is...

Yes, Dr, if I were Giles I'd have had a restless night. A good recovery by Australia. England had better get Gilchrist early this morning. He's not been batting all that well of late but if he gets his eye in he could pile on a few in a very short space of time. I can't see a follow on decision havi...

I use Norton anti-virus but not the full 'suite'. It works well. There was a time a few years ago that I refused to use it as my tests proved it to be ineffective. Symantec have got their act together since then. Some of my customers use AVG but at least one of them still copped a virus which meant ...

Nice to see Pietersen and Collingwood carry on from day one. In view of the fact that the pitch was doing little to help the bowlers I thought England took a bit too long to get their runs. Mind you, Warne virtually bowling wides down the leg side didn't help much - no doubt a deliberate (and succes...

Come on - a bit of optimism, please. Certainly it was a shaky start, but from my viewpoint the wickets that fell were due to batsman error (what the hell was Bell doing?) rather than bowler intrigue and tactics. All the pundits are saying that the wicket is a batsman's paradise, and they could well ...

Re: Tired of chucking cookies

Cookies on my computer are removed around twice a day probably more depending on how much i'm using the computer and i'm getting less problems as a result of it. I recommend clearing them more often to be honest. I overcome that problem by controlling which cookies I keep permanently, which for a s...

Hello, Monty. Me too. It's a strange situation. This morning (my time) I popped into the main page - no problems. As I hadn't read the Arsenal preview (sorry) I read that. Then I attempted to read the match review - "Hack attempt". Urk. I then tried reading the article at the top of the archives wit...
