I'm not entirely sure a quote from Jimmy Phillips confirms Palace have given us permission.

Sky have been known to "jump the gun" before.....

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

NO no no - not Freedman. What has he achieved? IMO let's give Jimmy Julian and Sammy a crack of the whip for the next 5-6 games. Apart from a brave comeback it was nice to see a change (for the better) in the pre match warm up and there was no larking about from the players. It is clear Sammy is ve...

Re: Allardyce piece in the London Evening Standard

No-ones bowing at his feet. Theres very little in that article to argue with. It was up to the club, not an employee, to build a lasting legacy. We failed. Spectacularly. But then I'm sure those in football would know that all too well. The bit to argue with is that he seemed upset that people didn...

Re: Allardyce piece in the London Evening Standard

I'm pretty certain you've spent a lifetime pointing out his deficiencies where you see no need to of others with immeasurably inferior records. No. I've said he was a fantastic manager here. He left no legacy though, because the most valuable thing he assembled, he tore apart. We didn't have a grea...

Re: Allardyce piece in the London Evening Standard

Thats how I remember it Worthy. Its not the first hubristic statement he's come out with, I'm sure about 18 months ago that the secret to our ongoing success was that we'd cracked the art of not being relegated. I'm sure theres more besides. As for any arguments about Allardyce, the figures speak f...

Re: Allardyce piece in the London Evening Standard

Gartside was just doing his job to try and lift spirits......

What did he owe Allardyce?

Especially after all the backing we gave him.

And of course the gentlemans agreement he wouldn't come back for our backroom....

Re: Allardyce piece in the London Evening Standard

Makes me sad and annoying that a lot of posters on here and many more on the other site practically hate the bloke. They expect some sort of "loyalty" from managers and whine like teenage girls when managers take off to take higher profile jobs. They are no different than any of our players who wou...

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

I suspect he will just end up signing a new contract with Palace, using our interest to get an extended deal. Not particularly bothered either way. Certainly what many palace fans are hoping but I doubt we'd have made an approach just to help him get a decent contract at palace. End of the day whoe...

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?

Had a bottle of Three Choirs Annum (made in Gloucestershire) on friday night with some scallops and Merguez sausage. Top stuff. Also had the pleasure of few Tim Taylor's Landlord over the weekend at the No Name. Beltin. Chef - tell me now. I love scallops to be served with their roe. Why is this no...

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

I get the feeling that Gartside is constantly searching for the next Allardyce. The problem is that for every manager with Allardyce's ability, there are any number who flatter to deceive. Agreed. However if he is looking for someone with similar attributes then I guess he has toback his own judgem...

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

He's done a good job at Palace. If he hasn't their fans wouldn't be getting themselves worked up into a tizz over the fact he could go. Keeping them up, taking them to a cup semi final and building a team that looks like it could be safely mid table this season, is surely a good job in the co...

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

Why would Gartside suddenly change his mind on one result? I'm not saying he's definitely going to be appointed. I'm saying if he wants to come and we can agree compo with Palace then he definitely will be. We've spent two weeks assessing the situation and the candidates, and seemingly settled on a ...

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

Stick with Jiminiho till end of the season seems to be the way Gartside is maneuvering at the moment though, or that's the way it seems in the Bolton News reports Ermmmm we've just made an official approach for another manager..... I'd hardly say that suggests anything of the sort. The approach was...

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

The people i've quoted are 'desperate for him to stay'. They're also realistic enough to wonder why someone who was under pressure in his own job three games into the season, is now being linked with another job. They're also questioning whether he has the experience for that job. Both reasonable q...

Most Palace fans on there are desperate for him to stay. Let's get that into perspective!
