Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
Amazing what can happen in 25 years, isn't it?Harry Genshaw wrote:I remember watching the 1986 cup final between these two. They were then the 2 best sides in England by a country mile. Todays game showed how far they have both fallen since then.

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
Excerpt from Steve Rotherham (Merseyside MP)'s reply to Alan Davies' piece in the Times, which I think is pretty spot on (there's some other waffle and bits in the longer piece that I don't agree with, but this sums it up quite well). Let me make it absolutely clear so nobody can claim that I am exc...

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
Well, as predicted, the Chelsea fans weren't up for respecting the 23rd anniversary of Hillsborough in the highly relevant fixture v Spurs. Now the two clubs will meet in the final. That'll become rather tasty. Chelsea try so desperately hard to have people hate them, bless them. I was there on Sun...

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
My God, can you imagine the wailing and the gnashing of teeth if someone did? I'm sorry Blurred but the outcry that would issue from self-pity city would carry on for the next 23 years. If there was genuinely no workable solution then you'd have to just get on with it, but I fail to see what that s...

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
As for the main theme, I don't really understand how one team can unilaterally refuse to play on a certain date sine die. I can certainly understand cancellation of a fixture because of some recent compelling circumstance but to allow it to continue indefinitely makes the league seem pretty Mickey ...

Re: FSF National Fans' Survey
Tried this twice. Got as far as page three and it kicked me back to page one. Strange, and thanks for trying. Will check there's nothing playing up with the page logic in the survey (but we've not had anyone else mention that from those who've completed it so far, so hopefully just a glitch with th...

FSF National Fans' Survey
Every few seasons the Football Supporters’ Federation carries out a survey to help us better understand the views of fans. We all enjoy the game in different ways – the FSF has members at hundreds of clubs from the top-flight to regional leagues – and all those experiences deserve respect. Please ta...

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
'Comedian in being controversial shocker'. Who said I found it surprising? It's obviously designed to court publicity/controversy, which it has succeeded in doing. None of his comments excuse the comments on his twitter from Liverpool 'fans' threatening amongst other things, death! You can guarante...

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
As for the comments on Spurs, that is absolute bollocks. I can guarantee that worse is said between United and Liverpool fans every day. Whilst us normal folks abhor the chants of 'Munich' can Liverpool and for that matter Bolton fans say that they are entirely innocent of this? It goes on all the ...

Btw which part of his comments were crass and insensitive? How about referring to the loss of 96 fellow football fans and how the club choose to mark it as "that gets on my tits, that shit". Would say that's pretty crass and insensitive (as were his comments about Spurs being run by 'absolute vermi...

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
The Hillsborough Justice Campaign has refused a donation of £1,000 from comedian Alan Davies. The Arsenal fan had criticised Liverpool's refusal to play on the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. Classless. Why do you say that? They don't have to accept his money. “Whilst we believe his comme...

Re: Liverpool and the Hillsborough Anniversary
Bradford refuse to play on the anniversary of the fire, too - do we slag them off for it as well? Personally (unsurprisingly) I don't see anything wrong with it. Once every 4-5 years it crops up, and clubs are usually amenable to moving the dates to accommodate the memorial service that's been held ...

I think you will find that there was some contact (Well according to Jim 'One Eyed Fecker' Beglin). I have looked at the video a number of times and I certainly can't see any contact. http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/luis-suarez-divewins-penalty-with-szczesny-in-slo-mo/" onclick="window.open(th...

Briatore isn't a bit of a tit. He's a massive tit.
Really interesting documentary, I thought; well worth a watch (at least the beginning bit when they're a basket-case club, not so much fun when they start to win things).

Re: League Cup Semi Finals / Final ~ Thread
Why is it that because Liverpool won it you'd think they'd won the fecking World Cup? I don't recall Birmingham City receiving the same adulation last year - just a bunch off guff about how it was Arsenal's/Wenger's loss! :whack: Can't say I've seen much of that; more just slagging us for for only ...
