Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

I'll be interested to see how Murray performs after Christmas. Holloway is about as different to Freedman as you could wish for, in terms of how he goes about his business. I'm ready to be proved wrong, but I think he might get lazy without Freedman's businesslike structure to keep him sharp.

Re: The Tykes Thread

As I said, I can't say I've seen any evidence of folk making excuses for the new manager.

Re: The Tykes Thread

As I recall, the previous manager was welcomed with open arms at the start of 2010. How folk felt 28 months later was surely a consequence of his best endeavour.

Freedman is not responsible for Coyle's fate. Freedman might be judged on what Freedman achieves, not on what happened before he arrived.

Re: The Tykes Thread

The stated priority is promotion this season. If it's now a long term goal, what was the point of changing the manager 10 games in? If we don't go up this season, it most certainly won't be because Coyle was sacked! Whether or not Freedman can produce a promotion winning side from what he's inherit...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

I'm sure if it were up to most managers, they wouldn't ever speak to the press. Unfortunately they are obliged to do so and in response to a never ending stream of ridiculous questions, they tend to trot out an equally unending stream of platitudes. Take from them what you wish, but I'm more interes...

Re: The Tykes Thread

At least we can give him time to properly implement before we start tearing what surely little hair we all have left..... Couldn't agree more. He's inherited a squad that's not firing, it will take a while to truly understand who's who. Some will become part of his plans, some will be moved on, oth...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

It's no good having 40 players and 35 of them are no good. During the week, I'm understanding who wants to push on with their careers. Though I'm inclined to take anything a football manager says in earshot of the press with a pinch of salt, this may have been a case of thinking aloud. Two things I...

Re: New Freedman book

"We have a new GK coach now anyway."

Second thread I've seen this on and it's no closer to the truth now than it was on the last one.

Phil Hughes, who came in from Burnley with Coyle, is still in place. How long for remains to be seen.

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

He said he was going to look for Eli'sha, as last he heard she was still crying. That was some time ago! . By the by, I don't think Freedman left high flying Palace for Bolton because he fancied taking a step back. I think he moved, because he believes there's more chance of impressing bigge...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

When Freedman took over at Crystal Palace on New Years Day 2011, they were rooted to the bottom of the Championship. Under Burley they were a rabble, Freedman, working with much the same group of players, dragged them out of the mire to comfortable survival. Without making a fuss and with some astut...
