I can't speak for Ibuprofen, Crayons, but I wouldn't do that if I were you. Most anti-inflammatory concoctions are not meant to be taken for extended periods. Get yourself down to the quack's and take some proper advice. Purely as a matter of interest (as I don't think it'll help you in the short te...

She's no lady, Faran. You should read the stuff that Monty (Montreal Wanderer) tells me about her. It would curl your toenails, honestly. Mind you, she's got one of those really flash hair curler things which (apparently) straighten your hair - can you believe the stuff that women buy? - so you'd be...

. . . Wogan kills me and I wouldn't watch at all but for him. I just remember some of the good French, Spanish, Polish and Portugese entries of years ago and miss all that for wannabe top of the pops stuff. No worries, TANGO, as in some respects I agree with you. One year we had a different feed fo...

Oh, come on, TANGO, lighten up a bit; Eurovision is the funniest thing on television, I wouldn't miss it for quids.

I know it's not what it used to be and perhaps that should be lamented - but it's still funny. Of course TW's commentary helps a fair bit.

Steady on, you lot. You have collectively wasted a fair chunk of my morning coffee time reading that compilation of one-liners and mini-essays. It has been most enjoyable and, I must say, far better quality banter than I would have expected given the title of this thread. Well done to (nearly) all -...

Unusually for me I've voted in a poll - shock horror! Sorry, Monty, but you came a very close second with your round the world odyssey. To whom, you ask? Well, The Bish and his TW Spy series. 'Bish, you have my thanks for a most entertaining production. I shudder to think how much time you must spen...

Again, my thanks. Let's hope that Brisbane does indeed take the game seriously and turn it into a genuine contest. They are a pretty good team (or were - I don't know what change of playing staff has occurred since September) which is to be expected, I suppose, given that they won the Minor Premiers...

I don't follow the game all that much, just enough to talk reasonably sensibly to customers and friends who do. Sydney City/Eastern Suburbs/The Roosters are nominally my team . It's probably like football in the U.K. - if you admit you don't 'have a team' many people look sideways at you. Why the co...

Thanks. I had the thought in the back of my mind that the Australian teams hadn't been all that successful in these games.

23 Feb - still a long way off. It'll be interesting to see how the Broncos perform given that they will not have had a competition game for five months. With a bit of luck St. Helens will have tired players and thus even things up a bit. What are these games usually like? Dire rugby or scintillating...

Nah, Bruce. Maybe I'm a little more forgiving than most but surely Mr Ricketts (who is an unemployed footballer at the moment) must have learned something over the last few years (is it really only three since he left us?). Unless he really is brain dead he surely has reflected upon his prodigal act...

A quiet one for me, just myself and wife. Mind you it's been like that for a few years now and I often don't bother staying up to see in the new year. Years ago, when we were courting, we'd drive down to Sydney Harbour for the Father Time changeover. In those days it was little known that a few fire...

OK, he made something of a fool of himself and has suffered the consequences. He did do wonders at Bolton up to the time he lost the plot. Perhaps he's simply grown up - most of us eventually do (though I'm still working on it). He has my best wishes should that be the case as there is no doubt that...

Fair enough, Soldier. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not 'having a go' - I was just surprised (and intrigued). Maybe I shouldn't be; after all it was a theatrical production in the first place, even though via the medium of radio (Mercury Theatre if my memory's up to scratch). Next time I'm in the v...

Re: So come on............Whatcha get for Crimbo then?

. . . Well, they have done a musical stage show of the original and it is absolutely fantastic!!! . . . A musical, SOTWA? That sounds bizzare. I wonder what the instigator of that idea had been smoking when the little lamp lit up. I've heard the original on a number of occasions over the years (Ors...

Sorry, Crayons, I didn't mean to be obtuse. 'Margo Leadbetter' was played by Penelope Keith in the series 'The Good Life'. In one episode she was playing Maria in her local music society's production of 'The Sound of Music' - naturally it was a disaster, hence my comment. Apart from that hicc...

BOM is advising a 50% chance of snow on Christmas Day here too. I jest not. In the mountains though, not my place.
