Re: And you will take my hand and make believe it's..... Sunderland (H) 15:00 29/1/22

Wow just wow what a performance & what an atmosphere. It actually could have been 7 or 8. The pressing, movement & intensity was excellent - the new signings where all very impressive but I thought that Santos, Johnston (his best game since early season) & Lee were also fantastic, saying that all of...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

Looks like a really decent signing Sadlier, a player signed to fit in with Evatt's style of play (certainly a decent replacement for Sarcevic). It does look like the Dempsey deal has moved forward today & is still on and will apparently likely to be done on Monday should he not get injured in his la...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

I'm not sure where the club is with the Dempsey transfer, but there are a few rumours around this afternoon that we have signed Kieran Sadlier from Rotherham.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

It appears that the Reebok is having a bit of a makeover (with the tax payers money !) - images going around of the 'Macron' East Stand upper tier wording has been replaced with 'Bolton' with a few other internal stadium changes ?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

We'll probably get Dempsey but it will be a last day / Monday signing.

It also sounds like IE may be after another forward on loan.

Re: Doing it by numbers..V Shrewsury away Sat 22nd Jan. 3'oclock

What a goal, Dion Charles this guy will get better with games. Poor 1st half better 2nd half and I thought we got better as the game went on but what a goal - as others have said we need to find a place for Dapo in this new formation and I agree with others I do like Fossey & Santos is getting bette...

Re: Looking for traction to avoid the blues - Ipswich (H), 3pm Sat 15th Jan

After the past few months, we should all chill out & have a beer or 5 and enjoy the win - its a great feeling although most of us had forgotten how it felt. Well done IE and the players - thanks for allowing us to enjoy the weekend & next week. By the way I didn't rate Gethin Jones much last season ...

Re: Looking for traction to avoid the blues - Ipswich (H), 3pm Sat 15th Jan

What a difference a win makes, and we do have a plan B well done IE. Better shape & intensity IMO, less tippy tappy sideways & backwards stuff which made us more solid at the back. After a dodgy 1st 10 mins the new keeper did well very vocal and it seemed to help Santos & Johnston, big improvement o...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

If he's a vocal keeper that's good, and apparently he's a tall lad although I'm not sure how tall but if he has a presence in goal then he could be decent (he surely can't be any worse than Dixon ?) - IMO he has to be the No1 until he makes any mistakes ?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

Apropos of nowt. Gotta love football forums. Rumour on the Gillingham forum (from a reliable source - doesn't come with a better guarantee than that) was that we pitched £75k for Dempsey and got turned away on Friday... Press gossip is we put in just over 100k and got told to come back with better,...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

That we’ve not addressed the problems and continue to recruit players who don’t fix the issues we’ve had in the squad. The priorities are clear. 1) A proven and experienced first choice goalkeeper. 2) A centre half who can defend. Organise. Win headers . Compete physically. 3) A midfield player who...

Ghost, out of interest which of our new signings is the 'One is a strong, gritty, shithouse' ?

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

MEN saying that we are close to signing young city keeper James Trafford on loan. He may be a fantastic young keeper with a great career ahead of him, but surely we need an older more experienced keeper to take over the No1 spot not a youngster unless the young lad is very vocal & an organiser ?

Re: Re: Quo Vadis time again. Home V Wycombe Wanderers ,Tues.10-01-22. 8'0clock.

There is an element of madness in continuing to do the same thing week after week, month after month when its clearly not working. Its been the same in almost every game over the past 15 or so games - absolutely no leaders in the squad (Santos needs to be stripped of the captaincy, he's an awful cap...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

Rumour is that its done & will be announced tomorrow fee around £100k (perhaps with incentives etc.), which if true is a good piece of business. Honestly, I'd love it. He's another "not perfect" signing. I'm sure plenty of people will pick it apart on what he can't do; but he's a local lad and what...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

Ultimately, on Morley, we'd not have bid if we hadn't received encouragement. That could be to get more money out of another club, but usually it's genuine interest from the player. If we've made a bid we probably have a chance of landing him. Rumour is that its done & will be announced tomorrow fe...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

What type of player does he need to bring in to start playing Evatt ball successfully ? Breaking it down and dealing with the transfer thread bit, I'll use that horrible phrase "system players" again. Evatt's system is breaking down for a number of reasons and they all add up to make us crap. If te...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

To take this back to the thread topic. If it turns out we have signed Morley, what else (aside from our desperate need for Darren Pratley) do people think we need to either survive or thrive in this league? Charles, Fossey, Morley and Xav (who is essentially a new signing due to fitness) would have...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

Ghost, what exactly is Evatt ball ? and what would you say is Evatt ball ? Because based on what I've seen in the past 18 months or so the current BWFC Evatt ball (although better than Parky hoof ball by some distance) is slow & ponderous tippy tappy 'backwards & sideways' possession try & play out ...
