Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

I'd rather have Eagles back than Nolan

We've got a million midfielders and two wingers, one of which (Clayton) isn't really a winger

Wasn't point-scoring on you Staffs. I did write (for Tripe 'n' Trotters) 20 years ago that Neal got little of the credit for the Rioch revolution - that not all was naff under Neal and not all was brilliant under Bruce (though God knows I'd take it now).

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

ESPN and Burnden Aces have QPR lodging a £1mil bid for Tim Ream.... BN have it that we rejected their offer. " Reportedly rejected" , that weaselly adverb adding an arm's-length distance from the BN itself. Ream has two years left on his contract and made more BWFC appearances than anyone else last...

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

15 isn't a great tally in this league. I'd back Clough to get at least that this season and Madine to get at least 12. that's big talk!! when was the last time we had two strikers that prolific!! Last time we went up... and the three second-tier seasons before that. Here's our top two (or more wher...

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

You can leaf through the BW-NU match history (inc that 0-4) here:

http://www.11v11.com/teams/bolton-wande ... e%20United" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Speedo got booked for them in that 0-4.

Bruce Rioja wrote:Didn't Jusski once get sent off against Newcastle and we'd no 2nd keeper?
He did, and as noted Bo Hansen went in nets. Couldn't stop us losing but for a while thereafter his 50% save rate was better than rags keeper Fabien Barthez's.

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

One could argue that the £7m on Ngog and Sordell - yeah thanks BWFCi, I've spent years in therapy trying to forget about that - wasn't fresh input from Eddie, it was money generated by selling the best defender we've had in 40 years or more.

... wasn't the team Bruce R assembled to spark our last renaissance full of bargain basement types Sort of. Branagan was a brilliant freebie but McGinlay wasn't cheap (by our yardstick at the time) at £125,000 while David Lee, whom poor old Phil Neal had tried to sign for seasons on end, was positi...

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

The time for Eddie to step in and invest (with the right manager in place) was whilst we were still in the premiership. Like when we outbid an astonished Fulham by almost 50% for Elmander? Or the summer we came down. Like when Stan and Ollie, expecting 2ppg in the easy ol' Champeenship, doled out a...

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

Maybe we decided not to pay £16kpw for someone who's 29 this year Maybe we're right Maybe there's a self-imposed ceiling on (new) wages now, so we don't saddle the club with another long-term high-cost contract for another saviour like the last one (Spearing, Andrews, Elmander, Jardel, Len Cantello,...

Quite possible that this is their evening paper reporting last night's internet rumour. Doesn't make it so.

Re: 2015/16 pre-season

Mark Davies should feature against Charlton, says Lennon : It’s a big boost for us, and he’ll feel the benefit of being back out there. He adds something extra to us and I thought he played pretty well. He’s a good footballer. He hasn’t played since Paderborn [until the game at Vale], and he did get...

Re: Gary Madine

Gaffer's chuffed. (Source: BN) I’ve been really pleased with him – he’s a better player than I thought he was. That [ his two-goal game at Port Vale ] wasn’t even him at his best; he has done better in other games. But his first finish was terrific, it was a great run, and then the second was the fi...

Yep, BN says club aren't interested in Massimo Coda . Elsewhere in the paper, some interesting Lennon words: After (Rob Hall) moved on I would think we can now bring someone in. That is what we are working on now. I’m not going to talk about players who are contracted to other clubs. Le Fondre did ...

Staffs - you asked when the loan window shuts, then deleted it before I could answer. Actually I can't answer, but last season the loan window was 8 Sep to 25 Nov.

Re: 2015/16 pre-season

Was that Finney playing? Who the hell even is he? Born at the start of Euro 96 (Soccerbase and Transfermarkt say the first day, bwfc.co.uk the third), he's a centre-back Freedman signed last August. Despite being born in Huddersfield, he'd been picked up by Spurs as a kid and switched to the Leyton...

Re: 2015/16 pre-season

Trouble with the wonky diamond - or the lop-sided rhombus, which is a MUCH better name :D - is a lack of midfield width. Which is a problem considering we've knack-all full-backage. For this reason, I'm very surprised we've not seen Kellett play for the 1st's over here yet Well, quite. He's played ...
