Re: Bolton v Burton, who'll show their true pedigree and who'll end up bitter? H Sat 16/Dec
Now, I understand the idea that we can't go toe-to-toe with Wolves or whoever. I even understand people being scared of underachievers like Sunderland and Birmingham waking up. And this is not a rant against Burton, to whom I wish all the best except when it affects my team. But really, if we can't...

Re: It seems the PNE's finally dropped: Preston v Bolton 17/11/2017
Was there a massive difference between the PNE game and the games before the international break? Winning against Norwich, for example.

Re: Scary movie; The race to the bottom; Sunderland v Bolton 31/10/2017
Which is why I said that we should be emulating Sheffield United: not, like Leeds, by inhabiting the lower zones for years or decades (which is probably what will happen if we stick with Parky), but by taking a punt (now that it's almost inevitable we are going back down if we don't change) on some...

Re: Scary movie; The race to the bottom; Sunderland v Bolton 31/10/2017
It was a race to the bottom and by gaining just the draw from it we won the race. Instead of 22nd we remain 24th. I see absolutely no reason to believe this will change anytime soon. I also don't get why 'stability' and keeping Parkinson are any kind of priority - we should be like Sheffield United...

Re: Buoyant Bolton or Wallowing Wanderers? Fulham v Bolton 28/10/2017
That usually works for Darren too tbf. :D Why not Pratley? Probably because he’s been a constant through half a decade of underachievement. And for much of that he has been, as our dear friend Prufrock will note, f*ckin bobbins. Or not what we were sold. Maybe we’re not angry, we’re just disappoint...

Re: Buoyant Bolton or Wallowing Wanderers? Fulham v Bolton 28/10/2017
First game I’ve seen in a while and the best game I’ve seen Pratley have since we were in the top flight. Yes, that's a tallest-dwarf competition; and yes, he was part of a winning team last season, but against poorer players earning a fifth of his wages. I’ve also seen him walk off Craven Cottage ...

Re: Stats and stuff
0.8 goals per game... if only!
I don't mind a bit of stat, but these graphs aren't very cheery, are they? I challenge anyone to find some stats or graphs that will make happy viewing! Hottest pies? Friendliest stadium staff? Shortest distance between the train station and the stadium??

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
People were talking about writing this season off and PP doing wonders again in League One next season, or a new owner coming in and deciding what he/she wants to do (if KA is selling). That seems reasonable to me with what seems to be happening with the club at the moment. With the results/performa...

Re: Turning the tide? Orwell adrift? Ipswich (A) 16/9/17 3pm
From my perspective from the armchair, it's getting a bit predictable now. It'll be interesting to see how long this goes on for with the new ownership after the previous ownership having been always slow to act.

Re: The Blades to stick the knife in? Bolton v Sheffield Utd 12/9/17.
The loss of Vela and Ameobi are most certainly big minuses for Parky, and the embargo is a football joke when you read about Neymar, Pogba ( out injured again after last night's match apparently) and all the rest of those who've found King Solomon's Mines . They must wonder if we're on the same pla...

Re: The Blades to stick the knife in? Bolton v Sheffield Utd 12/9/17.
There don't seem to have been any leaders on the pitch for a long time. So, if the team looks like it has no backbone, the last time it had an actual backbone was probably in the Prem. An actual leader who gave a **** about the team, who was the last one? Nolan? In all the managers since Allardyce t...

Re: Carabao Cup First Round - Crewe away
Yep it's f*cking ridiculous. No problem with limiting squad places to stop financially unsound clubs spaffing money away. Clearly should exclude U21s/players who spent say 3 years at a club between 15-21. It disincentivises the sort of thing that would make us more sound! Well put. It's almost like...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Knee?? When was the last time a player came back after a knee and did well? Isn't a knee what Holden and Sean Davis had? Was Chungy a knee too? Well, going back to Quinton Misfortune, Ricky Gardner.. back a ways, and Mark Davies a bit nearer and quite a few in between, yes. They did well after a kn...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Cullen will play ahead of Pratley in my view. Maybe not immediately but over time. He's a good player from what I've seen of him. Similar to Karacan in style. Absolutely 100% - Cullen should start ahead of Pratley, he's a very good player a much better footballer than Pratley (IMO) who likes to dic...

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Dunkirk was a fantastic spectacle and the cinematography was incredible but it's not a film you'll enjoy watching It's a film about a real life event that is bleak at times but not being enjoyable sounds like people shouldn't bother watching... Which I'd argue with :) It kinda almost has a happy en...

Re: Pre-season fixtures 2017
You realise there is a fairly strong correlation between spending on wages and success? Clearly every so often you can buck that trend, as we did initially under Allardyce. But you will be fighting against it and long term it will catch up with you. I'm saying this to be corrected by a wiser member...
