Re: Release or retain?

I've left Alnwick out purely on the assumption we can find a better option in the summer market Are you on actual drugs? Nope. If the club don't have viable targets from the available Bosmans then they can offer him a new deal as needed. He's unlikely to be inundated with huge contract offers befor...

Re: Release or retain?

On current form why would not want to keep both Alnwick and Henry for another season? I would, on current form. It's whether either is prepared to take the kind of deal that reflects the fact that their current form isn't necessarily likely to continue. Henry is 35 and Alnwick hasn't pulled up tree...

Re: Release or retain?

Caveats on these. I've gone with Wheater, Beevers, Karachan, Ameobi, Flanagan and Kirchoff. I'd not break the bank to keep them and I'd want to make sure Flanners and Kirchoff can stay fit until the summer. I've left Alnwick out purely on the assumption we can find a better option in the summer mark...

The desire and organisation show against Villa was top drawer. Two more performances like that and we can start planning for next season's Championship campaign.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

If we aren't hanging onto either of our senior keepers then we need to bring in someone who is capable of playing for another few years at a good level and doesn't have a history of injuries. Turner looks a bright prospect, but he's not ready for an extended run as first choice at this level just ye...

Re: We are (hopefully) staying up: the opposition

I'd rather have points than a game in hand, given the terrible form of everyone in the relegation battle. We need to win at least 4 of the last 10 games to get us to the stage that usually keeps you up. Last season you needed over 50 points, but it's usually mid 40s to just about stay up and high 40...

Re: Can we get out of Gaol at Reading, or will we go home Wilde? Reading v B.W.F.C, 6TH March 8-0'clock.

Apparently Alfie was excellent last night - Might disappoint a few He's a good player. I know people who coached him at Stockport and Rochdale and they've only got positive things to say about his ability. We've also seen him score goals for us here. It's a question of whether his face fits and whe...

Re: Skidding up to 18th, or will our Championship drift north, end? BWFC v Preston 3/3/18 3pm

Yeah, I read the game very differently. I didn't think we were trying to take the game to Preston in any organised, attacking sense. We tried to condense the midfield to make it harder for them to pass the ball and easier for our mids to win it; but once we had possession (not often) we had no real ...

Re: Skidding up to 18th, or will our Championship drift north, end? BWFC v Preston 3/3/18 3pm

They are totally average, yes. They are 5 points above mid-table and we just handed them 3 of the 5, because we played like we afraid of the ball. I don't have an issue with Parkinson (he did well to get us up and will do very well if he can keep us up), but he is currently far too conservative at h...

Re: Skidding up to 18th, or will our Championship drift north, end? BWFC v Preston 3/3/18 3pm

The ultra-negative style makes sense away from home. At home, against a totally average side, it's tying one hand behind your back. We've only managed to win 3 of our last 7 home games. In those 7 games we've scored 6 goals. Our home form is all we have to keep us up. It's not currently good enough....

Re: Skidding up to 18th, or will our Championship drift north, end? BWFC v Preston 3/3/18 3pm

The answer for how you get the ball from back to front without hoofing it is "midfield"... We've not got the most talented players in the midfield, but Karachan and Vela can pass a ball and the wingbacks can carry. The idea that it's impossible for the 11 we put out against Preston to do anything ot...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

Well, the Obasi thing is confirmed. Seems he was scoring goals for AIK, so we live in hope. The Preston result was bloody depressing, so hopefully he can deliver something once fit.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

Kirchoff would be playing for top sides if he had knees and functional hamstrings. If the sports science lot can keep him fit for most games then he could genuinely make a difference in whether or not we stay up. I said earlier in this thread that we needed a passing midfielder and he ticks that box...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

It's the same arguments over and over from both sides. Forgetting Madine for a minute, Parky has been playing what he sees as his best 11 whenever he can (obviously) and we've scored how many this season? 28? That's the third lowest in the league. Then we had to sell our top scorer. Anyone can make ...

Re: Whites barrier to hold against the Fulham surge? BWFC v Fulham 10/2/2018 3pm

They've one of the best attacks in the league and we've one of the worst defensive records - so on paper we're shit out of luck. On grass, we're probably still going to struggle; but sod it. We need to go out there and spoil the game in midfield and find a way to deal with Sessegnon and Cairney. Lit...

Re: Contract expiry

Derik's not a great player, but he puts a shift in and he did well covering the wingbacks when they bombed on. He's not the most technically talented player in the world - you can forgive that, though. Derik and Henry covered some ground on Friday night and I've no issue with their performances for ...

Honestly, I've no clue why you're going on with yourself but I'm assuming you've some stuff you need to get of your chest - nothing your saying seems related to anything I've said at all. I'm not particularly fussed Madine has gone and if the reported fees are correct then we've done well getting ri...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

You're not going to see passes finding a runner if you've got Henry and Derik pulling the string from midfield. One of the things that struck me last night was our attempts to fire a pass at a player in their box from thirty yards. Too far, as was proven by the amount of balls that were intercepted...
