Re: The Road Cycling Thread

Best way to get back to wherever you're staying is to ride. Same as getting to the start. It has the added benefit of l...

Re: TW Members. Introspection on an Epic scale.

Freddie had to be admitted last night. He bumped his gum around half five and it wouldn't stop bleeding. Had to have a platelet transfusion. He's home now. Donor update. They have found another donor, 32 year old male. He is allowing them to take marrow direct from his thigh bone (what our consultan...

Re: TW Members. Introspection on an Epic scale.

We don't know any of the circumstances surrounding the reason as to why she's delayed. If this other fella is a 10/10 match and can get him sooner we go with him. They really want to get it sorted as quick, due to the severity of his condition.

Re: TW Members. Introspection on an Epic scale.

Another update.

The girl has agreed to the 3rd of December. However, there may be another 10/10 match. We should know on Monday, this one may be able to do it sooner. Again, all work done by Anthony Nolan, working so hard to get this sorted.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

That the woman who is an ideal match as a donor is too busy to donate. I find that absolutely staggering. What sort of a person goes on the register, then when called upon is 'too busy'? feck me! Best of luck to you all mate and fingers crossed that another match comes up very, very soon. Our thoug...

That the woman who is an ideal match as a donor is too busy to donate. I don't know the details, but assuming the donation will ultimately save a life? If so, what sort of world do we live in when someone is too busy to save a life? :( If he doesn't have it, he'll die. His condition is that serious...

Re: The Road Cycling Thread

Thanks for the advice. Had a look at the place you mentioned, but booked up. May have to go with Travelodge/Premier Inn next to the Excel.

Will be getting out on club rides in the build up to it, so group riding will be ok.

Re: The Road Cycling Thread

There's a Premier Inn at the shopping centre at Stratford, which is next door to the QE park. We used it just after the Paralympics. Not sure how far in advance you can book, but may be worth giving them a call. Hopefully it's not already full. Will give that a try. Not made a good fist of organisi...

Re: The Road Cycling Thread

Random, but I stayed both times at the royal foundation of St Katherine in limehouse. Cheap as chips, good breakfast and comfortable place to stay. It has secure parking which is important and you can keep the bike in your room. It's 15 mins ride to the start and 20 mins back from the finish. It ge...
