Re: Cardiff Awwww..... feck it!

Red card was nailed on. Penalty for me, is just, just outside the box. Just gone through it frame by frame. Not withstanding the fact that he shouldn't have made the challenge anyway, the first moment of contact is on the line. Is that legally inside or outside then? :? The line is part of the area...

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

Bunch of out of work managers here: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trainer/verfuegbaretrainer/statistik" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Interesting list that! Gary Monks anyone? Or is he on gardening leave? He had a good start at Swansea but found his goalscorers sold from under him....

Re: Cardiff Awwww..... feck it!

The simple test, applied all too infrequently in football, is to reverse the situation: if that were your team attacking, would you claim a penalty?

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru

Trying to think who came to us October onwards and can't think of anyone but maybe Ameobi? Ameobi signed on 23 Oct, after he'd been released following a trial and we thought we could get someone better. On about 11 Nov the deal to borrow Wolves winger Rajiv van la Parra collapsed as it became obvio...

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

One other note, on the "sunbed" thing. There's no easy way to put this, so I'll just point out that there's a century-old, comparatively sizeable Yemeni community in South Shields . As far as I can see he's not mentioned it himself, and it's not really any of our business, but it's perhaps worth con...

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

To be completely fair, Bruce, you haven't posted facts, you've posted your interpretation of events. The facts include two promotions and a 40% win rate at Southend. They also include a relegation at Preston (win rate 29.4%) and a 21%-winrate spell at Derby. My opinion, from those facts and others, ...

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru

According to the Daily Star (I know) we were the 2nd lowest spenders in division 2 on agent fees for a period leading up to Feb this year. Considering we signed a fair few players, with some on a fair whack, in that period, it's a big improvement. Haven't the link to hand, but we 'only' spent 54k. ...

Re: Cardiff Awwww..... feck it!

Because I live in Fleetwood,I attended the Fleetwood/Blackpool game yesterday! Hayden white was playing for Blackpool and he was probably their best player on the pitch! He should be making his way back to us,because to be honest,he looks a damn site more (up for it) than most of our squad has this...

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

I don't accept that we won't be competing on "even terms" wage-wise in League 1 if the budget's Anderson talked about actually come to fruition. If the assertion on that link I posted is true - about the avg third-tier wage being below £2kpw - then the budget Anderson mentioned is plenty big enough...

Re: TKIZ!'s Scouting book for Boys (& ladies) of The Wandere

Ah right - I did wonder. Apologies. It's interesting with Bosmen in that they usually use the lack of fee to request higher wage, which is obvz something we've been desperate to rein in. At least KA/DH seem switched on here, with relevant experience and firm good intentions. Some links with interest...

Re: TKIZ!'s Scouting book for Boys (& ladies) of The Wandere

Hate to be the naysayer but most folks like Frimpong are exactly what we don't need: entitled no m-marks, more heat than light. Also no way we're gonna spend seven figures on one player, particularly a goalie when we still owe one the thick end of £3m in wages. I'd expect more like Matt Taylor, mayb...

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

Iles ran a Twitter poll : Brown, Nolan/Reid, or None Of The Above? With 1k+ votes, it went 50% PB, 15% KN/PR, 35% NotA. Take from that what you will. Some would say 50% is a decent mandate, but then again 35% is a big wodge of "Dear Lord, is that it?" Most (statistically) significant is the lack of ...

Re: TKIZ!'s Scouting book for Boys (& ladies) of The Wandere

He left at the end of Freedman's first part-season. . I thought he left sometime around half way into Freedmans first full season. In Freedmans first part season, Eagles and Dawson were the reason we nearly made the play offs. Not sure what happened the following season but Freedman wasn't starting...

Re: TKIZ!'s Scouting book for Boys (& ladies) of The Wandere

SJM! Its easy to forget that he started off as second fiddle to Andy Walker. For me he embodies the spirit that made the difference from the lacklustre fag-end of Neal's reign. We needed a change then. I think we need more of a miracle now. (And wasnt Stubbsy a Liverpool youth team cast-off? ) McGi...

Re: TKIZ!'s Scouting book for Boys (& ladies) of The Wandere

Does he like it enough here to come and play for buttons though? We have to delve right back into our collective memories to remember what it takes to get out of the lower leagues. A lot of spirit - individual, team and, yes, from the supporters too - is what I recall from 23 years ago (ouch!). Pla...

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

Since Lennon went Southend have played 14, lost 8, drawn 3, won 3 - in other words, 12pts from 14. Up to that point they'd got 36pts from 30 games and were 7th, while Oldham (a month into John Sheridan's reign) were second-bottom on 22pts. There's now a possibility Oldham will bypass Southend - they...

Re: TKIZ!'s Scouting book for Boys (& ladies) of The Wandere

He left at the end of Freedman's first part-season. IIRC Freedman didn't like him and somewhat hung him out to dry, in a precursor to the situation with Tyrone Mears - with whom Eagles arrived from Burnley under Coyle. I'm not against him. I liked him. I wonder why he's not had a trial for Houston D...

Re: Which muppet can we appoint next?

It looks like its a done deal and Phil Brown is on his way - he has apparently said post match that he needs to sort out his future with the Southend chairman ASAP and also the Southend fans had a big 'Brown Out' banner at Wigan today. IMO its the best option and exactly what we need & I think he'l...
