Re: Ox on the box, c*cks on the blocks? Oxford (H) Tue 12 Mar, 8pm
Bodvarrsson was absolutely outstanding tonight. Covered absolutely every blade. There is a myth that he’s not a grafter but that was exposed tonight. He and Collins look like they might be clicking. Midfield was rolls Royce like and the wingbacks had absolute worldies. Stretched them and got behind...

Re: Ox on the box, c*cks on the blocks? Oxford (H) Tue 12 Mar, 8pm
I expect JDB will start, with Collins playing off him, and the shape will remain the same. I'd be half tempted to flood the midfield and have Morley in there with Paris as the furthest forward and Collins playing as a false 9. Apologies if I've got the vernacular wrong, and he'd really be a trequari...

Re: This Exe is on fire: Exeter (A) Sat 9 Mar, 3pm
The fans at games are outstanding. We have a huge away following. We had two sides at Exeter. Wigan we took 4200 and I heard no complaints screamed just a lot of frustration and disappointment. Excellent post Worthy and this ^ from Insane had me nodding in agreement. In terms of numbers and the bac...

Re: This Exe is on fire: Exeter (A) Sat 9 Mar, 3pm
Coleman, despite being badly at fault for their first, actually kept us in the game with 2 stunning saves in the 2nd half. Toal and Iredale seem to be under instructions to only pass sideways to Rico, who then puts his foot on it until the opposition are back behind the ball, then tw*ats it upfield ...

We can't cope when teams press us and can't cope when they do a low block. Ultimately, we can't cope when playing away to a half decent side.

Saturday was much better. Hope I'm wrong but I can't see anything other than defeat on Tuesday.

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.
"Evatt out" is ridiculous but I can't easily dismiss those fans with rational concerns that we're going to miss a golden opportunity to get out of this division. This wasn't a one off defeat on the back of a mid season poor performance. We could all pretty much see this happening and I'd not be bett...

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.
Agree on quality but it is a bit to do with character, or bottle - players forever passing up responsibility to pass or cross by going sideways again at 1-0 down cost us. We didn’t want it as much as they did - Evatt can’t win derbies or big games. This is key for me. Trusting the process is all we...

Avoided it until 9.45 thinking it would be nearly over, had no idea of the delayed KO.
Don't know the ins and outs of tonight but absolutely no surprise that we've lost.

It's yet another big game where we've lost. Whatever the rights and wrongs of our approach, can anyone seriously see us winning at Wigan, Barnsley or Derby?

Re: North by North West. Away to Blackpool Sat 24th Feb, 3-0'clock
What a shite day. The football gods have decided we will never win at Blackpool again. Today, just to make sure they had that arsehole of a ref to make sure. I can put up with them misinterpreting situations but when they don't know the rules, then we're fecked. That said, we really didn't help ours...

Very lucky to get a ticket for this one. Like most Wanderers of a similar age, I've never seen us win here. Think I've visited at least 10 times too.
A top two side wins this today.

Re: Red cards and Red Kits, Bolton v Charlton - 17th Feb 2024 3pm
Look at our remaining fixtures and Derby and Pompey’s form. Does anyone in heart of hearts have much confidence in us? To me we have a run of the exact sorts of games we struggle with even when we are at our best. And we are far from that right now. Baxter is in a cast so sounds like he’s a long wa...

Interesting stuff DSB. Along with Rochdale they used to form the answer to the footy trivia question - Who are the only teams, since the advent of the Premier league, to have played all their football in what were divisions 3 & 4? Dale's demise means they're now unique.

Re: Alas poor Yor(i)k, I knew it well. Home v Barnsley, Sat Feb 3rd, 3-0' clock.
The most annoying thing to me about their goal, is that we'd never have scored it. The throw in would have gone backwards and have been back with Baxter 2 touches later. It's my only real criticism of Evattball, it can be too prescriptive at times. Just the occasional mix-up of approach can mess wit...

Time to prove we're not just flat track bullies but can dish it out to the good teams as well. I believe they like to throw men forward so half an eye on us building slowly, followed by up tempo counter attacking when we nick it off em.

Meh. Much as I wanted to win, it was never going to match last years occasion had we got to Wembley. First half we should have been home and dry. 2nd half only they were going to win it until that final minute miss of Dion's. I thought it was odd Dempsey didn't take a pen. The ref, badgering Ashwort...

If Collins fails - Cheeky, late, low bid for Clark-Harries? He's going for nowt in 6 months if they don't get any takers.
