Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

In terms of getting some bigger lads in, Josh Magennis is apparently on the radar. That man is a brick.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Both about 5'8", aren't they? They're younger than Ozzy and Spurs and Arsenal won't have had them building up fully in the gym until their early 20s, in order to allow them to develop fully in other areas. That's how it used to work at those clubs, anyway. So in other words, forget playing them in ...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Chiori and Pritchard are midgets was all I got out of that. Make Oz look stocky too. Both about 5'8", aren't they? Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Here is the interview with Rodwell: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5280715/Sunderland-outcast-Jack-Rodwell-insists-hes-not-blame.html Seems himself as a ball playing CH. There are some rumours that Sheffield Wednesday are also interested, as well as MLS teams, so it is likely tha...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Mulumbu was a superb player for West Brom. Not sure what happened at Norwich, but you'd like to think a move from Killy to the Championship would appeal. If we are actively looking at freebies in Scotland then I'd hope that players like Mulumbu, Templeton and Crawford would make that list.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

I think he is, yes. It may just be people linking SPL players because Ken said we'd check on a few Bosmans in Scotland.

Some rumours around that we are looking at Mulumbu. Has that made any papers?

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Something similar happened to a mate of mine. He got into the first team and was playing European football at 18, then he got an ankle injury and it took him a year to get back properly. He got himself a move to a decent club and he just couldn't get his head right following the injury. He ended up ...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

His injury history is nothing like either Anderton or Kirchoff. Allardyce said the lad played with the handbrake on because he was always thinking he'd get injured, but that his actual injury history wasn't bad. With Rodwell it's in his head. Unless Sam was trying it on to trick a club into taking h...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Rodwell is, I think, someone who would do well in a back 3. Not sure about one of a pair at the back, that's up to the manager. He's not some terrible non-league player who who tricked the world. He is a decent player. He wasn't worth the wages he was paid, but that's not the lad's fault. He was a ...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Regarding Teixeira: 150k is nothing in terms of transfer fees, but it's a lot to us - both those things can be true. We may only be offering a portion of his wages on loan, too. Given that he's struggled generally in his career, I don't mind us being cautious. Ultimately, we'll see. My hope is that ...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

80kg is nearly 13 stone, so he's not a string bean. He's not a beast, though. He's a technical defender who can use his feet. More John Stones than John Terry.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Kone is a very good player. Decent athlete, captained Strasbourg a couple of times whilst on loan and is a real threat from set pieces. Didn't quite work for him at Lyon. They gave him the 4 shirt (a big deal) and expected big things - he was seen as the major reason Guingamp won the cup in 2009, al...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Small morsel on Nixon's Twitter. Q: Anything new on Rodwell and Wyke? Nixon: Agreeing a Wyke fee will be a challenge. Rodwell was down last week for a chat despite the unsurprising denials. The reaction from people I know to that Rodwell rumour was horror, but I'm not sure it'd be a bad signing. He...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Little tippy-tappy players with one destroyer could described a lot of good sides over the years. If we can grab a proper centre forward we'll have enough height in the side. The question will be whether the footballers in the side are good enough, rather than tall enough. Work rate, organisation an...

Basic blerb. Better than never hearing from anyone at the club. I'll now try and get myself into a tizzy regarding possible Scottish signings...is Ali Crawford still available?

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Megson set us up not to lose and to try and nick a result. Owen insisted to me that plans didn't matter and football was all about individual battles and spirit - "Formations don't win games, men do" as I recall. Freedman constantly played players out of position and seemed to think he could turn pl...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

I'll also be interested to see what "the plan" is. Since Sam left, we've not had a manager who built a squad with a specific way to win games in mind. We've either had a team built to try and not lose or a collection of individuals jammed into a system (or not even with a system, under Coyle). Here'...
