Not bad for a team that doesn't have the bottle to challenge for promotion (and yes, I know a few of these were cup wins....)

Superb performance and result today. I had a bad feeling about it going into the game - sadly with every win, the likelihood of slipping up next match increases, and with the massive crowd I felt this would be when we did slip up. Which is fine, but there is another team involved. One who has probably had an absolute rocket put up them at half time for being 2 nil down, so come out all guns blazing and making it far harder for us to press on and get that 3rd goal....

So hang on a minute. We've just won twice in 4 days. 5 out of the last 6. We're 4th, and win our game in hand we potentially go 2nd. We're the 2nd most prolific team in the league.

And we're still whinging, complaining, criticising and fault-finding????

Sadly though - most football stadia tend to be filled with the great unwashed underbelly of society. It's not nice to say I know, but when I weigh up the amount of sheer stupidity I hear on a match day compared to reasoned content, there is a clear winner. Well, we won but it's a bit concerning we can only seemingly play for one half. Our fast starts doing heavy lifting at the moment. And the problem is? Starting fast and finishing slow,- as long as we still win - achieves exactly the same as starting slow and finishing fast, or playing the whole gam...

I don't think it matters too much how England look in qualifying - nor even necessarily how good a team we have (though clearly it matters) the thing is whether they have the mentality and ability to get over the line in major competition. I actually agree with you both. However, it wasn't idiotic to re-sign him. At the time most people were pleased he'd signed.
It could turn out he's a spent force - and I genuinely hope he isn't - but the decision to sign him again was right at the time based on what everyone knew then

Isn't that the whole point though? Lack of judgement called out by non professionals? ie they are the professionals and the experts, so their judgement surely counts more? I know in my job I've made great calls and equally bad calls, but very rarely I have taken counsel from a load of lay people to ...

Non of us see any of them in training day in day out. Evatt and the management team do, and they obviously think/thought they've seen enough of JDB & Dan (& others) to warrant a place in the squad and team...
