Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
I hope GT stays. He has improved every season, looks stronger this season and is a leader when he is on the field. Best player during our pre-season and is our only midfielder who has accurate long range passing vision with a work rate better than most. I struggle to see which other of our midfield ...

Re: Wanderers v Cheltenham (A) 12 August - Are we up for the Gold Cup?
Dominant win. Loved the way Ade played. He was impressive and linked the team up well as the point person up front. Iredale was strong and solid too. Charles looks like he will score another 20 this season. Can we go the season unbeaten?

Re: Can we be Imp-erious this season? Lincoln, H, 05/08
Excellent start. The team looked very settled, knew how Evatt wanted to play and played well. Positives: - Both wing-backs played well and were a threat unlike last year where the threat was only from the right - Scored 2 from set-plays. Hats off to the coaching team for finally seeing the importanc...

Re: Pre-season 2023-24
I think with some of the comments IE has made recently I wonder if he's either challenging Sads to focus on being a wingback OR he thinks that Sads can be that elusive attacking mid we need? It does read like a "redemption" opportunity... Its funny how we all see things different. I read Evatts com...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Underwhelmed .... at this point I am nowhere near that feeling as I have no idea how good or bad our signings are until I see them play. What I do know is that we have signed players who seem to be capable and we have paid fees for them rather than depend on freebie. That, in and of itself, is a big...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
The final pieces of our transfer puzzle that I am looking forward to would be the replacements for Lee and Kachunga. Two strong runners from midfield are needed, one who is more attacking, and one who is physically strong/dominant. It looks to me that a couple may also leave us in this window. My be...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
We complained that we were poor at set pieces, both attacking and defending last couple of seasons, missing the Beaver twins. Evatt says he wants to fix that. We were minutes away from going into oblivion after Sam and Eddie broke the bank to get us into the Premiere League. We had joy but we almost...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Dan has all the attributes t be a very good striker. He is big, strong, has running pace allowing him to drop off, collect and he can dribble, has a good shot and can head. He has the armor and is still fairly young. What he lacks currently is an understanding of the game, when to do what. that can ...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Welcome Baxter. I hope you do well here. I guess Evatt will now have a keeper on the bench given the comments here about Baxter's injury problems.

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Well I disagree. Charles like Doyle was a proven scorer at the level we signed him for, its not difficult to "see" them. Similarly Dempsey was well regarded at this level and has for me completely flopped. I don't agree he's a good player at all, he's put in a few superb performances granted but th...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
In terms of spirit and attitude this is the best Bolton team for many years. The only lack of belief is with the ball. The belief that they can consistently make that pass, or that the touch of the receiving player will hold in a tough spot. You have to trust yourself and your team mate to do the m...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Midfield is a problem to be fixed. We don't create a lot of chances for the forwards. A decent forward will score one in three chances on average. I think we need more from our midfield to give them more chances. Dempsey is our best. Morley and Thomason are young players with scope to improve. Putti...

We won a trophy and got to the playoffs. I would say that we have had a successful season. Lets build on that with promotion next season.

Re: We shall not be moved. Play-off away to Barnsley,Fri, 19th May, 20-00
End of a good season for us. This match and others against the top teams and bottom teams highlights that we need to strengthen in the summer to get out of this league. Today we gave away the ball so many times when we tried to play it forward that I lost count. When I paid closer attention to what ...

Re: We shall not be moved. Play-off away to Barnsley,Fri, 19th May, 20-00
We did not play as well as we can because tactically they did not let us play with their high press and tempo. It will be even more intense tomorrow. The question is, knowing that, what are we going to do about it. Do we have the weapons in our team to combat it. Do we play Thomason to keep them pre...

Re: The Real War of the Roses , the Play-Offs Part One, V Barnsley at home Sat 13th May 3-0 clock.
We were competitive on Saturday, and will be on Friday. Will it be enough, I hope so. If this was boxing, we would have lost on points to Barnsley. Their midfield dominated ours. Their top 6 pressed us when we tried to play it out, and we had no answerers to it as Sheehan and Morely were rendered in...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Appropos of McDons relegation, I got to thinking about Jack Tucker. It seemed pretty clear we made him an offer in the summer but he chose to go there instead. I suspect that ship's sailed now, not least because I think he signed a long-term contract with them, but - and I know location is always a...

Re: End of Season Awards
Traff was my pick also with Bradley a close second so wont argue against Bradley getting it. He was perhaps the most consistent player all season all things considered. Have no idea how we will be able to fill those 2 positions next season with similar or even better quality. They have been truly ou...
