Re: New ownership - Football Ventures

I mean a quick google suggests Nick Mason (£120m), Keith Morris (£185m), Sharon Brittan (£45m). Then there is Michael James, and possibly Jeff Thomas. Hard to find a number for KA, but I have seen £9m on here, probably £20m now!! (allegedly, possibly, maybe, I really couldn't possibly comment). So y...

Re: Onwards and Downwards: 2020 transfer speculation thread.

Have we had it confirmed we are in an embargo? It is not beyond the bound of possibility that the EFL could show us some sympathy in this area, given they will fully understand that we have essentially been abused by KA's ownership, and we are already facing additional points penalties? If the new o...

Re: The next manager

There’s a fine line between stone stepping and future building though. A young manager is likely to be ambitious, and even in the best case scenario we may not progress as fast as their career may take them. Someone may start out for the long haul, put 2 good years in and then a championship club c...

Re: Scouting guide to the Footballing Apocalypse

Good thread, and good suggestions. Some of those do look attractive signings. Surprised to see Grant Ward on that list. They paid 600K for him in 2016 and he was a regular until Paul Hurst got sacked last season. He did his cruciate ligament in December so much depends on how he has recovered from t...

Re: The next manager

I feel we are suddenly a very attractive proposition now. New owners with a plan, the club ready for progress again, good stadium and facilities, people in the game still respect us and remember us being a decent Prem side. I wonder if existing L1 managers will be applying or amenable to switching? ...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

It was clearly an opportunistic smash and grab operation on KA's part. Clearly no thought given to his future reputation, just grab as much as possible. One point we should remember, he never got full control until September 2017. That is when he officially and finally elbowed out Deano. By Septembe...

Re: Administration and recovery

Kunty Ken walked away with £240k, whilst the £7.5m debt was 'forgiven' by the EDT. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/17868646.ken-andersons-wanderers-pay-revealed-takeover/ In effect making his pay off almost £8M! Not sure. Wasn't the process; ED lends to KA, KA lends to club, KA is secured cre...

Re: The next manager

Monk has baggage - last I heard he was under investigation by a few of the clubs he's already managed. They don't like the way he always gets his agent involved in deals. I'd say avoid Ah, I didn't know that. Any appointee must have a flawless reputation for basic decency and integrity after what w...

Re: The next manager

What a wonderful day.

Really not sure Nolan is what we need. From seeing a couple of his Notts County games, he has very much a BSA philosophy. Apart from anything else that demands experienced, physical players, of which we currently have zero.

Holloway, Monk, Hill all sound good shouts...

Re: Time to field the club Priest: A Vs Gillingham 31:08:19 3pm

Definitely under consideration. Surely that away end holds more than 1500? It is quite a big if temporary looking stand? EDIT - seems not. 1500 + they allow 200 in adjacent stand. Grounds holds 11582, they get about 5k on avg. They must make arrangements when the likes of Charlton visit? https://www...

Re: Administration and recovery

Sounds like it needed all parties to unite to get the utter WANKER out of our club. I hope there is an investigation into him and he never gets another moments peace for the rest of his days. I don't want to speak another word about him. We survived, it was clearly close, the EFL need to do revisit ...

Re: Administration and recovery

Yep Hemmings was putting in around £7m per season, but they have netted some handy fees in the last couple of seasons, from the likes of Hugill, Cunningham and Robinson. Perversely once you have a rich owner providing stability, it is a better environment for players to develop and so more likely m...

Re: Administration and recovery

turn a little profit, Break even would be an amazing position to achieve. Not just for us but most of the ninety one. It's at its worst in the Championship. Maybe being far away from there will help. Preston do ok don’t they. That’s got to be our model - similar sized teams and fanbases in the same...

Re: Administration and recovery

Football authorities need to wake up two fairly recent developments imho. 1.) Being a multi-millionaire and being prepared to own a football club, no longer means that that person is honourable/successful and will take care of the club. Today, that person is just as likely to be a criminal / fraudst...
