Re: General Chit Chat

I *think* Hobes's point here, is that it was, or is being looked at as an option for people with Depression, or other mental health issues Medical assistance in dying in Canada is not currently available to people with mental illness. Consideration to include tham has been postponed until St. Patri...

A true football legend. Pele trained with Brazil on Bolton's Bromwich Street pitches in 1966. Edit. Just seen that The Bolton News beat me to that one. Not apologising though as I remember it. Eternal rest grant unto them all Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, may they rest in peace....

Jesus H Christ! I've just been reading about something I've never heard of before, MAiD in Canada and the reasons and it's not only terminal illness why folk are turning to it. It's fcuking scary. After googling MAiD on my work's computer and scrolling through various iterations (which would defini...

Understandable…must be our first Boxing Day without a game for a long time (apart from last year when it was a Covid cancellation!). Aye, my first Wanderers game was on Boxing Day at Burnden with my dad and uncle. I was ten if I remember so it would have been 1949 (My memory of then was better than...

When people say ''The proof's in the pudding''

It fvcking well isn't!

''The proof of the pudding is in the eating''
Nor is money the root of all evil. That would be love of money.

My arthritis is so bad I have to use a wheelchair if I go out and Christmas day we're going to my sons for the day. We have use a taxi with a ramp. Wife rang up today to book a there and back journey from one local firm. She was informed all taxi firms are charging double on Christmas Day. It usual...

"Lady" Susan Hussey. A fine example of England's aristocracy's uselessness. I'm not sure it's entirely fair to tar the entire aristocracy with that brush, Tango. It's like saying the racist yahoos at Burnden were a fine example of the Bolton working man's beliefs. The aristocracy may be useless but...

University challenge was the only show (this was back in the '60s) when they asked the question and I thought "wtf?". Hopefully it got a little easier over the years as I found watching it humbling. If you can get it over there Monty you should try Only Connect. I find it great viewing but I don't ...

Sad to see Jeremy Paxman being replaced as host of University Challenge due to him being diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. Blunt as a lump hammer, but I always liked him. Best of luck and hope he recovers some. It was Bamber Gascoigne when I last saw the show. I have watched many, many quiz shows ...

I'm sure we'd all like to be remembered for something. Ronnie Radford certainly will be.

RIP to a great lady. She was Queen of Canada too. King Charles sounds odd to me, and I imagine demands for us to become a republic will increase. However, he gave a good speech today I thought.

Not disagreeing, Harry, but just wondered whether you rated the US archaic, undemocratic or simply backward. Or all three perhaps.

Saddened to learn that Barnard Cribbins has passed away, aged 93. The BBC headline has him down a 'Wombles and Dr Who Star'. For me, he'll forever be Albert Perks from The Railway Children (and the hotel inspector in Fawlty Towers ;) ). And the songs, Right Said Fred..and Hole in the ground. R.I.P ...
