I do think Crouch did well in the World Cup, and certainly deserves plaudits, apologies, whatever, but I still don't think he's the answer for England. Know what we need? A young Alan Shearer to play ahead of Rooney.

If only ...

Goalkeepers, Penalties Shoot-Outs, that sort of thing

What do you think the chances are of us producing a penalty specialist 'keeper before 2008? After watching Ricardo against England, I'd be inclined to look for someone who can do something similar to take as the no. 3, even if he was otherwise shite. Let the players practice against him in training ...

Re: France v Spain

(Sergio Ramos, straight swop for Nicky Hunt anyone?) That's what we need, a red-card prone pansy with a penchant for putting the ball in his own net. I'm no great fan of France but I am glad to see Spain out. I loathe their racist fans and fat racist coach. I hate their p***y players with their mul...

Scared me there - bad!

This might be a very controversial statement on here with regards to Manchester, but while I'm not particularly fond of either of its football teams, I adore the place.

The Figo issue should have been about his play-acting to get Boulahrouz a second yellow for a totally innocuous attempt to put his body between man and ball.

You don't have to pick a bench in World Cup games - the whole squad is available.

According to Spanish TV, you are mistaken. England are 'la selección britanica'.

Australia were excellent, really impressive. I'll still be praying for Japan to go through with Brazil, though. Afterall, the Aussies do have two Blackburn players.

But the qualification process is spread over a whole year or more, so I don't really think fatigue come into it at all. The reason we're seeing new faces this time (as we did 4 years ago with Senegal) is that the African qualifying competition is by far the most competitive after Europe.

The African teams ...

Have been bobbins so far in terms of results. Thank God Ghana have scored first against the Czechs, because I always like style of the African teams and if they all go out I imagine there might be some revolutions, or something.

Both Gerrard and Crouch are on one yellow each so they may be rested for the Sweden game. I liked the look of Cornell Glenn for T & T Was he the one who almost ran right through? I give it til 60mins before Rooney is brought on. That was ... spooky. List of gripes: 1) His goal aside, Stephen Gerrard just doesn't get forward for England, thus robbing of us of what should be one of our real top-class assests. 2) First half especially, the gap between midfield and the front tw...

Quite liked Southgate near the end of today's game, talking about Trinidad and Tobago - 'their island will be very proud tonight'. Perhaps he thought the Tobagans had done well, but the Trinidadians let the side down a bit?
