Wycombe and we go: Away vs Wycombe (Tues 24th October 19:45)

After being back to winning ways, we go again, this time away vs Wycombe in a fixture where we have never won. Sure we've beat Wycombe before, once, last season: 2019-20: Wycombe 2 Bolton 0 2019-20: Bolton 0 Wycombe 2 2020-21: Wycombe 1 Bolton 0 2020-21: Bolton 0 Wycombe 2 2022-23: Bolton 3 Wycombe ...

Re: Sole destroying: Northampton home Sat 21/10 15:00

Loads of negativity. I missed the second half sadly, but going off the responses it's probably for the best. Regardless. Its great that we won. We needed the points and got them. The manner is irrelevant. If we win when we play badly its a good thing. Still loads of positives from that first half. W...

Re: Sole destroying: Northampton home Sat 21/10 15:00

Barnsley go behind at Orient, so we go third as it stands. I've got more desire for the top two to slip up. Oxford, have just scored to increase their gap on the chasing pack. Well quite, but if Barnsley win then they're in the best position to overtake Oxford/Pompey. One job at a time: we need to ...

Re: Sole destroying: Northampton home Sat 21/10 15:00

Feels like a bit of game management this. Intensity has dropped somewhat. I hope they turn it on and see us get another. Match is never wrapped up at 2-0. That being said, Northampton really haven't offered anything of note. Surprised they've won 4 games this season. This is possibly the worst oppos...

Re: Sole destroying: Northampton home Sat 21/10 15:00

Anyone wanna take a guess as to how we're outperforming Northampton here?

Effort levels seem up significantly and our wingbacks seem to be getting loads of the ball. Vic and Charles seem a handful.

Deary me Vic, easy ball to JDC and we score there. That being said Vic did well to get a shot off in the end.

Re: Sole destroying: Northampton home Sat 21/10 15:00

Probably the right team selection. We'll need the use of the full squad over the next couple of months. With regards to Gethin, Evatt could be banking on his desire to make amends. If so, let's hope he's not too enthusiastic to impress. He played well in the game vs United U18s, I think he'll want ...

Re: Sole destroying: Northampton home Sat 21/10 15:00

I hope Maghoma is fit to start, it’s about bloody time some of these players were! Sheehan/Morley/Thomasson just isn’t dynamic enough for me… Not sure about not being dynamic enough. There's certainly something that feels a little off. I suspect part of it is down to us knowing who is playing. Thro...

If we aren’t able to play at the same or greater intensity then something has gone seriously wrong.
Exactly, we should be matching their intensity throughout the match.

I don't however think its feasible to be at 100% intensity all game, let alone all the season.

Re: Sole destroying: Northampton home Sat 21/10 15:00

Need to see massive intensity for the full game. Want us playing much faster. Balls into the box. Pin them back. Make them defend their area for long periods. End all the passing sideways in front of teams. We need to be far more active in ball recovery, not ponderous and slow and lacking intensity...

Re: Tonight's Football

I think you'd be happy enough with Foden as "this lad is the best thing for the next ten years". Bellingham is ridiculous. Bellingham is something special. I don't think i've seen a game where he hasn't stood out over the majority of players on the pitch. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him winni...

Re: Oh to be in Bolton....At Home to Carlisle United , Sat 7th Sept. 3-o'clock.

I meant Evatt's teams historically. 2020/21 - WWWWWWDWWW in Feb/Mar 2021/22- WWWWDWW in Jan/Feb 2022/23 - WWWWW in Jan/Feb I'm not suggesting we wait until 2024 to pop a few greens on the board but I heartily dispute the idea that Evatt's teams can't put a winning run together. Let's just hope we c...

Dem bare bones may very well be playing against Solihull Moors in the FA Cup on the 4th November.

Might actually stand a chance of getting through to the next round.

Re: Oh to be in Bolton....At Home to Carlisle United , Sat 7th Sept. 3-o'clock.

Sounds like a reasonable post there bwfci. Not that much that most would disagree with. If anything calling the midfielders not very good would probably be the only thing. I think the lack of a plan b is evident. Being unable to win when the plan goes awry is what we're missing. We had the knack whe...

Re: Oh to be in Bolton....At Home to Carlisle United , Sat 7th Sept. 3-o'clock.

In the summer we needed a hard running, physical midfield general. CMG is a forward who can play number 10 and Maghoma is another technical player who isn’t very good off the ball. Neither really fit what we needed. As for centre half injuries, Johnston was pre season so known. Santos sure…I’m not ...

Re: Oh to be in Bolton....At Home to Carlisle United , Sat 7th Sept. 3-o'clock.

As much as people want to bemoan bad business in the transfer market, let's look at what we're missing. Our entire back three at the minute. Jones, Johnston and Santos. Weve also missed Toal at times. Our results last season were predicated on clean sheets. We shouldnt be able to match that with tha...
