Re: The Politics Thread

Yep we'll need something the magnitude of a Marshall Plan. If they can achieve political stability in that country then rebuilding roads and factories should be the easy part in comparison, but we'll see. I'd hope it'll be easier with the world on board (e.g. Chinese construction firms) rather than ...

Re: The Debt.

Sounds like borrowing money against them as they're guaranteed future income. Is to improve cash position (cash is oxygen for business as we're seeing) but is really not ideal. I remember Leeds doing it with future ST sales.

Iraq: The focus will be shifted, why could the extra aircraft now set to leave for Cyprus used there? Supposedly we have weapons with a superior/different type of targeting which France & the US don't have. Also when our planes happen to be in the air in Iraq they can be needed in minutes for live ...

Re: The Politics Thread

Wait, we've got drones and shit for this, right? Anyway, my Facebooke cho chamber is full of people telling moving stories about their nans who died in WWII and the human cost of chucking bombs on things. Well, yes, but that's not an argument. There's a human cost to not chucking bombs on things to...

For the goal I think we had 4 in the box plus the crosser, with Danns obviously outside. I suppose because of shitness in front of goal we're going to have to try bundle things in with sheer weight of numbers

A goal though!!!

Re: The Debt.

increasingly perilous
All there in two words I guess.

Let's hope the non-playing staff got paid and keep getting paid, as well as small business creditors

I note SportsShield have stopped posting stupid .gifs, presumably just counting up their £100m plus of investment money.........

Re: The Politics Thread

How can Labour possibly not win the Oldham by-election by a huge majority? Corbyn has re-engaged a tidal wave of disenfranchised lefties and is leading a brave new political revolution? Who was the guy on here who kept arguing that? I forget.... I bet they'll say Jim McMahon is a red Tory I read th...

In fairness we were in the Premier League for six years before Walters finally made it back with Stoke in 2010. He's made the most of his limited ability though

Re: The Politics Thread

An interesting thought experiment to wonder what would have happened to the region had there never been Western or Soviet/Russian intervention, or alternatively none since 1950.

Probably chaos?

Re: The Politics Thread

Listening to the statement it was classic Osborne capitalising on his luck of the OBR forecast improvement, smoothing past his U-turns* as if they were minor course corrections on a bigger journey, which I suppose they are to him, at a macro level. I also liked the 'commitment to comedy' gag at the ...

Re: Question about a fan takeover

Tremendous that the best case scenario on the debt is becoming a reality. You can also see why he may now be being careful handing over on the cheap a debt-free club with a load of assets to Dean Holdsworth and pal money making investment vehicle.. Although let's remember we're now a debt-free loss-...

Re: Question about a fan takeover

Some cursory searches on Sports Shield this morning except for the amateur-looking Twitter account. 1) Company set up in July 2015. Deano is majority shareholder and only director on the Company check websites. No sign of this Michael Collins. 2) Their website is snazzy but nothing else - two golf d...

Re: Question about a fan takeover

With vast majority of the debt owed to ED rather than the bank or HMRC I'd say administration is unlikely. I'd think that ED would rather sell for an £Xm amount than end up with a mess, -10pts and eventually being offered 1p in the £1 for his debt anyway.

Red Ken even did the 'I'm sorry if anyone is offended' rather than 'I'm sorry' on Newsnight.

It's starting to look like 4 years won't be long enough for Labour to get their act together! The country's worse off for having a poor opposition.

Re: Question about a fan takeover

Though I guess it's a different argument once you've already built the stadium. But yeah, not sure there's a market for ANOTHER carphone warehouse. And demolishing a stadium can't be cheap. I've never got folk who buy football stadiums. It's like the opposite of a monopoly. Although if you own the ...

Both the goals there I thought, "Doesn't look like they should score from this... goal." No decent attempts to stop the shots but poor stuff from Amos it looks like.

Not one highlight for us!

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

Odegaard does need to be nurtured somewhere and I'm guessing being kicked about for 90 minutes a week of Championship football isn't quite what Real Madrid have in mind. Look what other teams did to Clough as soon as they recognised he had talent. Nevertheless, if I'm wrong and they're going Champio...
