Feels like there’s only one team scoring next. We just can’t get out

Gah. Last few minutes it’s felt like it’s been coming.

Re: Club Record

Morley’s free kick at Charlton was lovely aesthetically. Perfect dip, curl, and in off the post past diving fingertips.

Re: Beware David. Solihull Moors, H, 04/11/23, 3pm (FAC R1)

Not sure that Dion appearing to laugh when their player got sent off was particularly classy. Their number 4 had been a knob all game though. Pretending to be injured, niggle against our guys, whinging to the ref demanding free kicks for minimal contact. Ref gave him a right bollocking in the first...

Re: Cricket World Cup

I think the lack of 50 over games we’ve played in the run up to this has been the issue. We’ve played half as many as we did in the 4 years before 2019, and it feels like the majority of those this cycle we’ve fielded a second string squad. There’s just not been enough high intensity preparation. Th...

Re: The Politics Thread

Seeing the Tories lose seats that (in a uniform national swing scenario) would leave them in double figures potentially as the third largest party is always fun. Pretty unprecedented times. Lovely to see but Labour increasing their vote by just 800 is concerning. The country appears hungry for chan...

Do we think it likely John and Sadlier will be moved on before the window closes? Neither has made a match day squad so far this season, as far as I can tell.
I don’t doubt we’re trying to get rid. The question is whether a team who they would want to move to would want them.

Re: Match Thread: Pasties and Pies - A Tasty affair! Bolton v Wigan (H) - Saturday 19th Aug / 12.30

It was interesting that Phil Brown said that he couldn’t understand why Evatt didn’t change it after ten minutes. Like it was so obvious we were being out fought and that players selected couldn’t cope (apparently they mentioned this at that point during commentary) and he said that he would have c...

Re: Match Thread: Pasties and Pies - A Tasty affair! Bolton v Wigan (H) - Saturday 19th Aug / 12.30

Port Vale lost 7-0 first game of the season and haven’t lost since. This needs to be the kick up the arse Colon Todds lot got against Southend in 96. Only a win next week at Burton will do - get Thomason and Maghoma in the side and prepare properly. Agreed on comments re Evatt getting the team wron...

Re: Match Thread: Pasties and Pies - A Tasty affair! Bolton v Wigan (H) - Saturday 19th Aug / 12.30

First 25 we were abysmal. Couldn’t pick a pass, no movement, players waving their arms at each other. Then when Wigan got the ball we seemed to melt, and they were clinical. At 2-0 I thought we actually did ok. Started progressing the ball forwards and had a couple of chances that on another day cou...

Joe Denly’s ears have pricked up at the mention of us needing someone to occupy time at number 3 and bowl a bit of spin!

Anderson for Robinson for me. (I would have probably gone for Foakes over Bairstow but that’s not happening)
Confirmed as the only change. Moeen to bat at 3.I’m 34, and still younger than the average age of our bowling attack!

Re: Top British sportsmen of all time

Yeah, I'm starting to think this is quite tricky. 😁 I mean I've heard of Cavendish, probably watched the odd bit of the tour, but if asked to say who I thought the best British male cyclist was, I'd have probably (and maybe not very knowledgeably) probably have said Wiggins.. (apols in advance :-) ...

Re: Top British sportsmen of all time

Can't believe I forgot Lewis! Talk about disadvantages... Always blows my mind that they keep firing through all these trust fund non-entities. Like you've had one black driver ever, one of only a handful of working class and a handful of non-white drivers, and he just so happens to be arguably the...

Re: Top British sportsmen of all time

How about the Headingley innings was the best, while the one to win the World Cup was most important? Stokes is a moments rather than a numbers player. It’s what makes him fun, but means that just looking at averages doesn’t give a true picture.

Re: Top British sportsmen of all time

Cavendish would always be up there for me. To be the undisputed best in your discipline in the history of the sport, and by such a distance is extraordinary. He’s won 34 TDF stages. He next highest sprinter is still Andre Darrigade from the 1950s with 22. A lot of other people who will get mentioned...

Another great innings when he’s taken the time to play himself in. He’s single handedly given us a chance here.

Will they make us follow on, looking at the weekends weather forecast?
Not relevant as we only needed 63 to avoid the follow on! We’re not quite that bad.
I don’t think the weather will affect the result here as the game is moving quickly.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Good morning’s cricket. Shame about the drops. I’d always be keen on getting Foakes in as Australia won’t give many chances and we need to take them.
