Bassett Leaves Leeds?

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Now wtf is that about? Caretaker manager for a day?!
Leeds United assistant manager Dave Bassett has left the club.

Bassett's departure follows that of former boss Dennis Wise who, on Monday, announced he was joining Kevin Keegan's new regime at Newcastle United.

The former Nottingham Forest manager arrived at Elland Road in November as a replacement for Gus Poyet, who is now assistant coach at Tottenham.

Technical director Gwyn Williams will take charge of Tuesday's League One game at Southend United.

Newcastle announced the appointment of Wise, 41, as an executive director for football at St James' Park on Tuesday.

Bassett, who has been in charge at eight different clubs during a 26-year managerial career, worked alongside Wise at Wimbledon, Leicester and Southampton.

The 63-year-old was contracted with the club until the end of the season and was expected to take charge of the team for Tuesday's trip to Southend.

Some Leeds fans blamed Bassett's arrival for the club's poor results since the autumn. They have lost five of their last 16 league games, slipping from second to fifth in the table.

They've appointed Gary McCallister just now!

Not a surprise really - he was getting some awful stick from all angles and it looks like they had a replacement man with a team lined up

given they left a 'suit' in charge for their defeat tonight they did somewhat toss points away tho

It's a bit late, but ......... BASSETT OUT !!!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".
