EURO 2008

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

All in all, a really good and entertaining game despite Italy's negativity (bang it up to Kev) . Spain deserved it and was surprised to see Torres go off. Pujol, Sergio Mendes (okay, make that Ramos  ), and Senna immense at the back, playmaker Silva never stopped running and the whole side played well. For Italy, Buffon, Zambrotta and Camaronesi played really well and maybe didn't deserve to be on a losing side. Good two hours with a tense finish. Anybody's title now although Spain and Russia are probably down in the bookies odds. Cassilas the hero in the end.

By the way, Motson is a supercillious clown who shouldn't be allowed near a football commentary. Just though I'd add that in. Compared to him, Lawrenson comes across as educated.

Easy to remedy, press 'mute', or stick the radio commentary on.

Watch out for Spain - they should take care of the Italians.

I'd be quite happy for Spain to go on and win it Monty. Still think Germany want watching though.

Germany were favourites from the get go, while Russia have played two outstanding games. Turkey seems to be doing it with mirrors and I'd like them to beat Germany (though i doubt they can come up with three miracles). I'd put my money on Spain before it started (bit of an outsider) but didn't realize they had not beaten Italy for 88 years (at least that's what I thought the commentator said). Three games to go...

There's an almost fearful inevitability that the Germans have sealed this one up, I'm afraid...

Cracking first half with Spain coming through after a slow onset. Fantastic goal from Torres, blistering pace, deceptively strong and clever and the finish was clinical with no time to think. Unlucky with the header that hit the post. Germany still dangerous, but Ballack is heading for a send of with his blatant fouling. Ref got a few wrong but a superb game. Come on Spain.

Well that was thoroughly deserved. Spain have got a frighteningly good strength in depth.

Have to take exception with Lawro saying that they were the worst German team he'd seen. He'd obviously forgotten the 2002 World Cup team that knocked the USA out in the quarters.

Oh well, best team in the tournament won, fair play.

Ha, love the fact that they played the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' music as the trophy was handed over - somebody's comment on Spanish history?

Best team won it, but the Germans will probably be pissed off that Spain still had 11 men on the pitch because by the letter of the law Silva had to be sent off.

Nevertheless, they never really threatened Spain and even toward the end it looked like Spain would get a second as opposed to Germany coming back into it.

Threw up when that senile prick said it was lovely in Liverpool that Spain had won.

In fact the whole programme was just slaughtering Germany. Yes they didn't play well but the way they were being slagged off it seemed like bitterness for their previous successes.

Great. We're now officially the biggest under-achievers in world football. No pressure

Surely the EURO 2004 was worse than that. 0-0 with Lativa?

Spain deserved it. Best team in the tournament and much, much better than the Germans in the final - frankly they were terrible. Not a huge fan of the Spanish but I'm grateful to anyone who puts that "I just choked" look on Jens Lehmann's face.

Spain were the better team, they did good and got the win.
