Pool could soon be in a whole lot of trouble but ......

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

The Boston Red Sox are a much better run organization than the Texas Rangers were (Hick's Team). I believe the Rangers were recently sold off in an auction. Gillette owned the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Team which is the most successful NHL team ever. Not sure how the Habs fans felt about his time in charge though. That is a question for Monty. The Red Sox though had gone 80 years without a championship despite rabid diehard fan support. They have won 2 championships under this ownership. They are not shy to spend money and seem to get top end people to run the club. Football is a different business (not sure if business is the correct word to use when describing football), but regardless I bet the Pool fans will be ranting for months.

Those cigars look reassuringly expensive...

Worth 10% on the season ticket price on their own.

Have I got this right?

We (the taxpayer) own a controlloing interest in RBS (via the government bailout)

RBS installed their own chairman.

Gillette and Hicks tried to remove 2 members of the board when the sale was proposed and install 2 of their own yes men.

RBS said they couldn't do it and the sale was agreed

Gillette and Hicks are now set to contest this through the courts.

This could run for months and REALLY upset the Liverpool status.

That's my money at work, that is.

Just look at this little beauty posted on RAWK this morning.

We are a Proud City with a history of direct action ie strikes for better conditions and a better future for others who follow in our footsteps.
Ask Anyone who worked in Fords, Dunlop, British Leyland. DOCKERS and others.

YOU STAY OUT OR CONTINUE ACTION UNTIL YOU SUCCEED !!

Now, if I was a Liverpool fan even one as thick as an elephant's foreskin, I'm sure that I could spot the pattern here! I wonder how long it will be before we can utter LFC in the same breath as those dear departed Scouse institutions!

They're a gift that just keeps giving.

I heard one on the radio this morning saying the fans just wanted Hicks and Gillette out of the club and to be debt free and the new stadium developed and investment in the team to get them back in the champions league places.

It won't take much to resolve, he said.

His figures?

To purchase the club £300m
To cancel out the debt £237m
New stadium £350m
Team investment £150m

So, without spending too much they want an expenditure in the region of £1bn. :whack:

We didn't mind Gillett as an owner. What LFC fans don't realize is that promises made in 2007 could not be kept after the financial meltdown. No one predicted the extent of that. Gillett had to sell the Montreal Canadiens because of the crash and Iceland had to sell West Ham (but that belongs in another thread....)

Shouldn't there be a telephone number at the bottom, you know, letting us know where we donate? Got about 3 mins in before I couldn't control the laughter. All it needed was Pudsey at the bottom and I'd have laughed until I'd pooed myself.

And, because I can't carry on, can anyone let me know the final count of the use of the word "history"?
